I have run into a problem while playing "The Way of the Voice" quest, specifically the "Learn the Word of Power from Einarth" objective. Up until this objective, I'm doing fine, but I can't complete it. The dialog with Arngeir goes as it should, but when it comes time for Einarth to teach me the second word in the Unrelenting Force shout, he isn't around. The word subsequently appears, absent Einarth, on the floor and I absorb it. Einarth is then supposed to allow me to tap into his understanding of Ro so that I can then unlock that part of the shout, but he's still not there. Consequently, even if I spend a Dragon Soul to unlock the new word myself, the monks do not subsequently offer me the three targets to bellow my Shout towards and I remain stuck there and unable to complete the quest. I read elsewhere on the web that I needed to pause and then unpause the quest to overcome the bug, but that doesn't work for me. Someone else suggested going out the door to High Hrothgar from Skyrim and then come back in again. That didn't work. The "setstage" console command doesn't seem to work here either. I'm open to any suggestions as to how to overcome this bug because otherwise I'll have to stop playing this character and start the game over.

have you wandered around and found Einarth for yourself? He might be out back shouting or down a hall praying... I'd see what happens if you find him and then make him mad (hit him, shout him... something)... then reset and start again. sounds dumb and still, might be like cold booting a computer? ugh... how frustrating for you.

which discussed this issue in some detail. The bottom line was that this bug was introduced in the Skyrim v1.3.10.0 update which came out last month and which hopefully will be fixed in the v1.4 update which is slated for release later this month. Until then, my choices appear to be skip "The Way of the Voice", use the console's "completeallqueststages" command to artificially finish off the quest in order to move on to the next, or wait for the update . In light of this new information, I consider my question answered. Thanks to all who shared their thought's on this bug, either in my thread or the other two.
