Wayne newton

i liked it alot. three dog got grating on the nerves after awhile. my dad, being in his mid 60s, would hear three dog and go 'who the hell is THAT [censored]?' XD

then he heard wayne newton and was like "wow! is that wayne newton! that's pretty cool!' and i agree. wayne newton fits the atmosphere very nicely.

I had no idea who Wayne Newton is, and after this performance I wish I still didn't. When I think of Vegas I think of Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jnr, Siegfried & Roy and Penn & Teller.

Now there is who they should have had as the DJ(s) Penn & Teller :D Constant cries of [censored]! across the Mojave lol, but seriously Teller would make a better DJ than Newton.

I have a feeling anyone who complains about it has trouble keeping their attention span taut on the game without momentary shouting or flashes of light. Typical.

Amen.

if you watch the making of FNV dvd it states he did it for las vegas because he lives there and in reality he is known as Mr.(Las) Vegas. If you have ever seen Mars Attacks you have seen Wayne Newton do the same thing as FNV. So dont worry hes doing it for Fallout and for the fans. Personally i like him as the host i just dont know why all the hosts in the game are 5 times louder than the music they play.

That was Tom Jones in Mars Attacks not Wayne Newton, just FYI... :)

No one's ever happy. Wayne Newton is awesome.

This.

Anyway, a more subdued radio personality fits the more subdued music selection. Another Wolfman Jack simply wouldn't fit the vibe.

/shrug I thought he did a fine job. I don't have the radio on much though, just enough to hear what's on it. I imagine if you had it on all the time it would get annoying after a while, but not from performance whether it is Wayne or the guy that did Three Dog, but simply from repetition. Turn it off once in a while.

Yeah, three dog was the FIRST to get exploding pants in my game. :D

Personally, I think Wayne is awesome!

....but it is a bit creepy when he calls me Mrs. New Vegas.... heh.

I think everyone is neglecting that fact that Tabitha (coming to you from the glorious civilization that is Utobitha) is the true best DJ in the Mojave wastes. Seriously, I wish there was more of that routine... it was the Fallout equivalent of listening to crazy AM talk radio. I had to make sure I'd heard all the bits before I
Spoiler
headed up to Black Mountain and shut it down.

Anyway, Wayne Newton does sound a bit lost reading some of those lines, but I highly doubt they could afford to have him do more than 1 or 2 takes on most of them, and it doesn't shock me that a Vegas singer of his age has a hard time getting the delivery right on announcements about post-nuclear news events.

Also, aside from there being an entire second radio station you can switch to, there's also some solid background music for when you get tired of that and just turn the radio off entirely. I think there's actually a fairly decent selection of music available, it's just not all in one place.

Are the 4 songs that keep playing an confirmed bug?

I actually like the radio but the lack of songs is killing it for me.

I would rather listen to Wayne then Three Dog any day of the year, Three Dog's voice was just damn annoying, I couldn't stand him.

Can't answer that but there are certainly more than 4 tracks in the folder. Steam\steamapps\common\fallout new vegas\Data\Sound\songs\radionv contains 48 tracks, some of which I definitely haven't heard on any radio station in the game. Though, some of these might be for specific game events (ie Ride of the Valkyries is in there, but it's played as part of a quest event... though it is played over the radio).

I certainly don't remember hearing "Home, home on the wastes, where the mole rats and the fire gecko play." I think I'd remember that.

In addition to the 48 radio tracks there's also quite a selection of background music in its own folder, including what appears to be most if not all of the soundtracks form F1&2.

I feel Wayne lends a touch of class to endeavors, whatever they may be. I don't as such find him annoying, in fact I prefer him to Three Dog. Better to be loved than to be patronized I guess ;). But, really, how hard is it make a good quantity of lines for Mr. New Vegas? Just so that it doesn't get to the point where as soon as you hear "And now for the news", thoughts of suicide come to mind. Oh well, I'm being pernickety now... :fallout:

And yes, you do unlock more songs the more mainstream tasks you complete and places you discover, so I'm looking forward to that. For the first 4 hours I turned the radio off completely. I'd rather take a .44 to the head than hear "big iron on his hip... (big iron on his hiiiiip)" ever again.

I don't mind Wayne Newton's act on the station, my only problem is that his voice is way louder compared to the songs on the station. If I turn up the radio volume to hear the songs decently, he comes back on and almost blows out my eardrums.

I like Wayne as the DJ. Three Dog however...... I had to put a bullet in his head pretty soon after the GNR quest.

Protip: Wayne Newton is referred to as Mr. Las Vegas IRL.

It makes perfect sense to have him in the game. It's awesome hearing his voice but... They didn't get rights to any of his songs? Come on.

Besides; Three Dog was annoying as Hell.

I very much enjoined his performance as DJ. Granted, I don't listen to it a lot, maybe out of 60 hours or so I've put in I've had the radio going 30 minutes. But those were the best 30 minutes of my life.

I'm totally fine with Wayne Newton's performance.

My only gripe is he has so few lines and the station has so few songs that repetition is an immense problem. Even in Fallout 3 the track list felt a little thin, but it's somehow even less robust in feel in New Vegas. Bottom line, there needed to be more DJ pvssyr and more songs. I'd be totally fine hearing tracks from Fallout 3 in New Vegas, even, if it'd enhance the variety.

I mean, it doesn't even make sense that four years later all of those songs in Fallout 3 have gone into hiding from the airwaves, especially if the spartan music libraries are a result of 2077's fireworks.

I'm ready to turn the crap off. And don't get me started about Best Friend Tabitha on Black Mountain Radio. I cannot believe the station goes dead when certain events transpire. I'd shoot anyone in New Vegas to hear Tabitha and Rhonda on the air again.

Listened to him for a while.
He's okay.
A thousand times better than the three pups but still, I don't like having a radio on when moving along the wastes.
It messes up the atmosphere for me.
