I was wondering if anyone knows a good way to make caps without glitching, because most of the caps glitches have been patched. I'd rather not do quests, and there is only so much money to be made gambling before you get kicked out. I currently have around 16,000 caps on my " Perfect Character" and I want to get say, around 50,000 without glitching, and having a large amount of ammo and guns, repairs for armor can be done at the Mojave Outpost and I get my stimpaks from the Dead Money machine. I just need a way to get money that can be done any number of times and gets a medium to large amount of caps each time it is done. Obtain enough money, ammo, stims and chems to never run out. My character who cant get his snowglobes on his stand ( thats his only flaw so I started another to correct this) has 175k caps from a glitch that is patched, and the game freezes when the patches are erased.

Well, I have a little over 180k and a very good way to get caps is first you must have a very high barter and repair skill like at least 90up, then pay the fiends around Vault 3 a visit often and repair their gear and sell it. But truly, like the other comments why you wanna have so much ? I have this much mainly reason is because I go to mick and ralph over in freeside repair gear then do the gun sale glitch and get my caps back with a weapon or armor of 85% CND. Look into the wiki site and you might see items that are commum and cheap that when merged they're very expensive, like gun mods makes the price go very high depending on the weapon.

Well My Main, not a main anymore to this point, has alot of ammo like loads of it, and I really need a way to get atleast 5000 or more of each ammo, also can you explain more of what you mean on the vault 3 thing, unfortunenatly my guy only has 20 barter, well my new one does atleast. Perfect Stats: All my specials are above 7, most are 8-10 due to a glitch with Dead money

Stats- 100 of these skills : Repair Guns Speech Energy Weapons Science Lockpick
45 Sneak, all others are around 20-25 but barter is low.

Kill fiends around Vault 3 then pick their stuff armor and laser weapons mainly, then if you have a high repair you can repair them and get lots caps if you sell them to any merchant, but then again you would need a high barter to earn as much as possible. I also think that Raul can repair your stuff, I haven't checked that yet but I know it's in his office in black mountain. Sill, I don't know if it's for free or not.

Yes Raul can repair your stuff at Black Mountain, but it is not free, even if he is a companion he can repair at his shack but it's not free I don't think.

I'm most likely going to remove my patches and glitch up Primm's casino. I glitched to 35 in Goodsprings to double my perks, and my agility is 10 with the agility glitch in Dead Money, most of my perks after Goodsprings were intense training so everything after implants ( doing those with caps) will all be 8-10 accept for Charisma, which will be 7.
Thanks for the suggestion, thats what my friend said to do. Also, on my old main, I started with about 1.1million caps buying out stores of stimpaks and ammo, fully repairing my weaons and armor at the Mojave Outpost. The guy there if you have good enough rep has 100 repair skill.

If you did the mission for fisto then talk to him in atomic wrangler, you get ten caps whenever you exit diologue with him. It's not patched, because I did it yesterday and I have seen countless forums on it. It takes a while, but I managed to get 500 caps in a few minutes

Jury Rigging perk is the game's best money maker. Buy a damaged Ballistic Fist for 300 caps, repair with 3 sets of brass knuckles with combined value of 150 caps, sell the repaired weapon at a vendor that gives full price, and you get over 7000 caps of pure profit- AFTER expenses- on a single item. Takes ages to win that much in a casino.

Jury Rigging as a money maker: detailed walkthrough:

1) Get Jury Rigging

2) Take a trip to the Fiend territory, clear them out, collect the loot.

3) Make a trip to a few shops which often sell high-end items- Great Khan armorer, Knight Torres at Hidden Valley, Quartermaster Bardon at Hoover Dam etc. Buy two types of items:


Any high-end weapons in badly broken condition EXCEPT for the following: grenade/missile launchers; "heavy" ranged weapons (miniguns, incinerators, etc.), Laser RCW, Gauss Rifle, 12.7 SMG, LMG, Assault carbine, Marksman carbine, Riot Shotgun, Sniper Rifle, Silenced .22 SMG.

Any helmets.

4) Repair high-end weapons with low-end weapons to full condition. Hunting revolvers can be fixed with 9mm pistols, Ballistic Fists with brass knuckles, Chainsaws with Pool Cues etc. Any helmet, including Combat and Power helmets, can be repaired with any hat or eyeglasses.

5) Sell repaired items. Swim in caps.

Oh wow, i didn't think someone would actually make use of that. Killing a single fiend for his Laser RCW would give you at least that much money even if your barter is woeful, and that way you don't waste half an hour talking to a robot.

Play slot machines with 200cap bet. Max jackpot is 32k caps with 3 orange. I got bored yesterday and went to play slots for the fun of it and I got 3 oranges in 3 casinos...

But remember, caps don't make you happy in the long run

By the way, OP, if you're so fond of glitches how come you didn't get the 37 gold bars from Dead Money?

Why didn't I get all 37 gold bars? I tried for like three hours to get them, but never could get out, stimpaks won't be a problem anymore with the vending machine, I have around 11000 Sierra Madre chips and I get the voucher every three days. I don't quite understand the Jury Rigging trick, because most of the guns I got from fiends didn't end up making enough to buy out the shop. I buy out shops of all ammo and stimpaks. I'm doing pretty good right now, I just need alot of caps because of repairs for armor at Mojave Outpost.

I've been using the shop glitch to siphon the caps I spend back to me as well as the vendos caps as well. At Quartermaster Bardon I made 234 caps per Lazer Rifle Buying and Selling back. Also about the slot machine Idea, first once you get the 32k jackpot you get kicked out, so thats probably about 100,000 caps from all the casinos. That does not include Primm, or The Ultra-Luxe. I was unable to get that jackpot at the Wrangler, but I got kicked out with Blackjack. My luck is at 8, so most of the time I either get blackjack or a hand over 19, or 11 with double down goes to 21. That's due to some sort of luck thing that makes double downs on 11 give you a 10 or a face card. Idk why that happens.

I have a million caps in a drawer in my L38 pad. Along with 38 gold bars, all weapons/armors, most of the uniqe npc clothing, 100k+ pre-war money and 50k+ NCR/Legion money too... (only because I'm pretty bored waiting for new DLC)

Making caps is ridiculously easy once you've completed DM. Simply go to black mountain (on my current save 8 Stupid-mutants respawn) Kill the Stupid's for their miniguns, Light machine guns, Heavy incinerators and Super Sledges. Have ED-E carry your 'free' WRK's and then go sell them at your friendly neighbourhood robo-vendor... Oh, and while you're waiting the three days for the stores to refresh their caps, you're SM chips are restoring too for your free WRK's... LMAO easy money.

If you don't understand the Jury Rigging thing, just follow the handy step by step instructions Golem wrote out. Just blindly follow them 4 or 5 times, and I'm sure you'll pick it up.

On the subject of Armor, jury rigging will help there too. JR let's you repair any armor with anything in the same class (light, medium, heavy) Power Armor can be repaired with normal Metal Armor, and light armor is amazingly easy to repair. Any random raider painspike or dirty prewar thing can jury rig repair light armor.

Gambling at the 4 casinos on the strip (and in freeside) and net you about i wanna say 40k? the casino in primm gets you like 3.5k
otherwise you can learn how to play caravan (really fun actually once you know how to play it, pretty simple too) can get you some good money.

Another thing is to pick up armor and weapons, some good "weight to caps" ratio items like carton of cigarettes, sensor modules, etc.
also you can hunt for gecko skins, eggs, coyote hides, and whatnot and sell those.

basically just pick up good items that you wouldnt really want to need and sell them, give them to your companions to hold on to, so you can carry like 3x the weight.

oh and dont forget to repair low dura items, that can save alot of space too.


and as for the people asking what you could possibly need 50k caps for, it takes 46k caps to get all the implants at the hospital place outside of freeside(with an endurance of 9 of course, 1 endurance per implant)

EDIT: really, it honestly isnt hard to make money in this game *at all*, especially with the "vegas" themed style. gamble, gamble, gamble, is all i can say. im amazing at blackjack and caravan, mainly because its simple and really does not need luck to determine the outcome. especially compared to slots or the roulette table. i can never figure those things out.
hell i think im like 4 or 5 hours into the game and i just got to novac and i already have i think 7-8k caps? just gamble and sell things that are high money

Caravan with No-Bark Noonan is slow, but a fun way to get more money.

I just go kill people ("bad people") and sell their junk. I had over 50k until I went and bought all the mods I could handle from the doctor in NV. You don't even need all the money anyway.
