Ways to improve fallout 4 + DLC thoughts

Post » Mon Jan 18, 2016 2:19 am

Another basic function that should just be in the game already -

Settlement Management Window

A window that lets you see who is assigned to what, and lets you reassign the settler at any time from anywhere to any task you like. In this window you should even be able to see supply lines and the provisioner assigned to a line, and where the provisioner is in his path on that line to and from the settlements, and can reassign provisioners as well with just a couple of clicks. This should be brought in along with being able to rename settlers (or learn their names from talking to them), and also when you assign settlers to a task, under their names is the name of the job they are doing (eg Joe Smith, Bartender).

Yes! That would be pretty cool. Just like on fallout shelter where you can send your vault dwellers to get supplies, you could send settlers off for them to find junk, or you could do it yourself. Like you said there, you could go out and take everything you can see, that would be pretty fun. But i'm not sure if bethesda could do that, i imagine a lot more bugs would arise if they did, but anyway, if they were able to do it, then great!

Also, another thing to add to that, basically let us remove the corpses at the settlements. I have a couple settlements where there are dead feral ghouls and i can't remove them. I tried picking them up and throwing them out, but they respawn back to the original location where they died.

With the vault tec DLC, that would be very interesting as well. Based on the fallout 3, NV and 4, we've never seen vault tec still operating. We've seen information about them through terminals where the information shows their downfall, but it would be cool to find a vault tec facility or something still operating. Are they still doing the experiments? But if so, then i guess a new vault would have to be made somewhere in the commonwealth because the current vaults we know don't have any vault tec staff operating there.

Yeah this would be cool. I think Bethesda need to definitely improve the supply lines in some way, and the workshop mode is still fun, but there are many ways it can be improved.

Showing what settlers are assigned to.

-Kinda not a needed feature doesn't really improve the game.

-Redundat, game already does this,

->In workshop mode and also

->At any Bar unassigned settlers will hang out till assigned a job.

Gods Eye View---> "Birds" Eye View

console command "TFC"

No Placement Restrictions

No idea how any of the mods online would be allowed on consoles to fix this but there are several options for the PC.

Yes its very cool...Like just so cool your fricking eyeballs pop going "what I built this thing OMG its 5:30AM already I thought it was 3PM...dang gotta be somewhere.

Increase Settlement Size

>Budget Caps<

These are there for a reason basically not every piece of hardware can handle having a higher cap....Funny thing though it would seem that there are a lot more computer set ups being reported unable to handle it than consoles haha :D

So idk, but I'm sure almost everyone knows how to glitch a higher cap....Though maybe consoles should just get 2X higher cap honestly seen some builds that work with those higher caps on Utube.

>More Settler's<

Bad idea,

the AI Packages of NPC's would cause more strain than its worth.

I've heard reports of people saying that their computer can handle like 30 maybe 50 NPC's tops.

Even then its really redundant and you'd find you'd need a lot more modifications to fix more annoyances that will appear once you have twice the normal number of settlers, such as "Get da frick outta my way" cant stress how annoying that will be.

-->Trust me there are better modifications to put on your game than this and sure a lotta cool stuff is coming.

Settlers Already will auto-equip,

-Just put a better gun and ammo in a "normal" container where they are likely to be during a settlement attack.

-Settlers will also salvage equipment from dead bodies during a combat if there is enough time....

Success or Failure

-Cant agree more, player should be able to be absent during attacks and not get clobbered with "you weren't here"

-It would be best if the script for this was basically a straight up

Defense Value vs Settlement Value + Player Level.

Otherwise well your looking at too much complicated stuff going on in a game that you likely want to add a lot of modifications too.

Anyway, I've poured a ton of hours into playing on a very good computer with all the settlement Mods that are available and I gotta say its amazing what we can do right now and a lot of them would likely work on consoles too.

Don't even ask why one person manages to come up with a negative on that one...everyone else wants this function, always one guy who negs a thing when everyone else thinks it would be handy

Ok so mods that exist on PC.

Homemaker

-adds a whole bunch of build sets like covenant, more clutter, more lighting options, and more furniture

OCDecorator

-Adds all junk items, aid items. As static placement objects

Precision Placement

-Needs autohotkey, so no way this would be on console

-Allows for you to place an item however you want it

-Clip through anything, force it out of bounds

-Rotate the object however you want it

-->I've made windows, shutters, coaches you can sleep on, tioletes you can sit on, roof hatches, and thoroughly decorated my kitchen, chem area, and well a whole armory that would put the Punisher to shame with this tool.

There are also now

elevators, ramps, build a bear, posters, pin up girl paintings, and a whole slew of décor mods available for PC now.

A lot of those would likely be able to pass Bethsada inspection for console download.

Like I said

If you have a Bar

Settlers that don't have an assignment loiter at the Bar...

So basically you know exactly who doesn't have a job.

For a modder to build a special interface that tracks your settlers assigned jobs might introduce more strain on your systems resources than its really worth.

When the really cool mods start being developed with the Creation Kit and your able to download a whole spectrum of awesomeness the need to balance your resource use on your console will be more apparent.

________________________

A better way to handle unassigned settlers would be simply to make the Settlers that are not assigned show up highlighted RED in Build Interface.

This would have the least impact on your game performance.

If more detail than that was needed,

Best to just make settlers Glow certain colors depending on assignment

Green for Crops

Red unassigned

Blue for shops

This way the impact on game performance is minimal and it gets information across quickly without fussy interfaces.

As long as they make worthwhile DLC's, I'll settle for being prepared for pleasant surprises, without having any special demands. One thing tho, I need the NCR Ranger Armor in my game!!!! I don't care how, or what story behind it, just make it happen :P

No, we don't. They move around and we don't have all day to watch settlers find their fav spot. Some of them bug out and get stuck in places. Plus the best way to find settlers is to ring the bell and assemble the lot of them, then who knows who does what already if they don't have job titles.

@ Tawnee

Hmm, whatever

Settler naming is already a mod that exists.

Modding out a game is like this I will pick mods that I think are essential while deciding not to use mods because they offer redundant feature or perhaps use to much of my computers allotted resources to run the game.

The next person such as yourself will have a unique modification make up for their version of Fallout 4 that doesn't look, feel, play the same as mine.

It should be perfectly acceptable that we have different tastes.

Console owners don't have any idea what I'm going on about when I say "Computer Resources" but your console only has so much Resources and if it were me I wouldn't want to burn up everything on settlements.

Its going to be a game changer when you guys see the mods on your console,

Sorry you don't like my take on it.

No need to get upset at me about it.

This makes sense. I would love a very detailed work screen, but your point about system resources (especially for consoles) is well taken. Maybe defensive personnel are highlighted in black or orange.

Not upset, just explaining why we think this way, and frankly confused you are putting so much energy into disagreeing with basically 99.9999% of the rest of us! Also just that this is a suggestion thread, seems odd to neg a suggestion, especially one you must have seen like 300 people make in some form or another and everyone except you agrees will be good for the game.

The mod incidentally only calls a batch file and doesn't let you name the settlers to an actual name, or to use anything other than preset job titles. And I think Bethesda should incorporate settler job titles/naming and the management window into an official patch, rather than farm out basic functionality to modders.

Pretty sure even consoles could handle a few job titles under settler names, no impact on performance at all. Also colour coding would be bad for people with colour vision issues.

And then we actually do want to know more than "that guy there is a shopkeeper...hmm wonder what shop?"

Lol why is everyone suddenly talking about mods? At first it was about improvements for fallout 4, we don't need mods for that. It could come in future updates, and maybe some of these features are "redundant", but we would still like them.

Now me personally, i disagree with what gamefever said about the settlers, i would like it to be much easier to know which settlers are not assigned to anything, instead of just waiting at a bar.

But that's his/her opinion.

These improvements were not meant to be fixed by mods. This would be through future updates from bethesda. Also I play fallout on xbox one, so console commands are useless to me.

How about something that allows for the construction on domiciles in the woods. I would like a cabin in the trees on a slope above a fresh water source like I imagine Im would do IRL. Unfortunately I don't suspect that it's possible to allow building anywhere but if there were many choices that would be cool.

Aliens.

Moon.

Lorenzo Cabot.

I just hope that DLC's are insane. Like crazy stuff. Not another Institue or BOS with standard story and quests. I want to spend a few weeks repairing a rocket at a local silo and heading for the moon. Alien invasion of Boston. More map! More World! I have to admit I'm not interested in a continuation of any of the current bigger factions.

I'd like to address something. No one has said anything to me but as i was reading through what i wrote, i can see that i have come across as a very negative person.

I'd just like to say that i think Fallout 4 is an amazing game. There are lots of things to. Having over 100 hours of game content proves that. Not many games have that much content.

Now even if Todd Howard said there was 400 hours worth of content and there wasn't, that doesn't really matter. There is still so much stuff to do. Maybe there is 400 hours worth of content, maybe that other stuff might be through random encounters or what not.

But i think the main thing is that i loved Fallout 4 so much, and i was disappointed when i finished it, i wanted more. I do appreciate the game very much.

But apart from that, there is still things that can be improved.

-need VATS for Grenades , molotovs and such other hand-thrown projectiles. it was there back in FO 3. my 2 cents

-also, human companions when fell ..do manage to get up again. I mean the main player can aslo die... , but human companion stays down, waits for stimpack and is up again. give the possibility that human companion may also die(say ..stimpach revivals to some limit but not after that). I mean I have seen human companions take a full barrage of bullets and shotguns in their normal jackets ..and just sit down and wait for a stimpack. ....Bethesda can give a slight fine-tuning here and maybe give the game a bit more of a reality here.
