Wayward Pines

Wanted to keep my plans on ranting out of the title so that people who love it can discuss the series if they want to as well.

Anyway, I'm following this on FOX so I haven't got past episode 3.

So.... I can't even explain how insanely disappointed I am. First episode was interesting as hell. By the end of episode two I was so interested in watching on, like with no series in years, aside from the Walking Dead. And then came episode 3, which I just finished watching. Spoilers ahead, in case someone plans to watch this and didn't start yet.

All the stuff that happens in the episode, and then the end. Pope chases the family into the forest, Ethan appears, Pope gets killed, Ethan opens the metal gate surrounding the city. And then Pope gets dragged into the darkness, and inhumane screams go off. Imagine my (rather unpleasant) surprise when I realized this is not going to be a political/FBI conspiracy kind of thing that so intrigued me to watch this. And so the curiosity got the best of me, I googled up Wayward Pines and started reading up on what happens in the next episodes. Cryosleep? 2000 thousand years into the future? Mutated humans? And then all the stuff I started thinking about after that. Who built the infrastructure, and how is all of this still working. How do people know what to do if all the freakin advlts "mustn't know". Why can't they know? People are trying to get away, how is acting like an ass, and harassing people, and public executions better at making peple stay than telling people "don't leave the wall cause you'll get eaten"? That would convince me much sooner than having a guy appear in my house, eating my [censored] ice cream, and screaming "THIS IS MY TOWN". I don't remember the last time I was so disappointed by a series, thinking it would be something totally different, based on first episode or two.

Oh wait, I do. The Strain. Except it didn't hook me nearly as much as Wayward Pines did, but same thing.

Anyway, share your thoughts. Did it end up what you were hoping for, and if not, how did you like the turn of events?
