Weapon Acquirement Order Should be adjusted.

I missed out on many fine weapons since by the the time I got them, I already had a far superior gun. For example, the Trail Carbine was only found in the NCR ranger safehouse. Same with the assault carbine. Would it help to get to the Gun Runners as early as possible?

Gun Runner and Van Graff inventory is scaled to player level, so getting to either of them early is not going to get you them right away.

Both of those weapons are available much earlier if you desire to go get them. Also, getting to Gun Runners (or Alexander) before the level those weapons will appear in leveled vendor lists is not hard at all. A ton of people just go straight to Vegas, and are at GRs by level 2. I always have a trail carbine by Novac and an assualt carbine by the 188.

Could be wrong but one of the raiders in Bonnie Springs always seems to carry one, as if it's one of the rewards for taking the hard north route from Goodsprings.

And there's the rub. Should stuff be placed in a way that you get to use everything, or in a way that makes going a particular route worthwhile, or some other way?

Risk/reward. That's what challenge is all about.

So you don't use weapons that you like, because you already have better ones? Come on, it's not like the Feinds would [censored] you if you weren't using the best gear you can possibly get.

Indeed, I used Lucky, for a very long time, because I like it. It's not like I suffered from it.

What gun is better than a Trail Carbine in all things?

Trail Carbine, Scope mod, SWC hand loads and the Cowboy perk. You just about won the game if you put all that together.

Yes indeed and have the Lucky as your side arm. You will never lose a battle.

Or you can have a Hunting Revolver or Brush Gun.

Brush gun lacks a scope. Hunting Revolver has a silly .35 spread. Both weapons combined can't shoot ~2,500 rounds before breaking. .45-70 Govt ammo is more expensive, weighs more than .44 rounds and the stats for SWC rounds are not in the .45-70's favor. The three .45-70 weapons are best suited at killing the toughest of the game's boss enemies....nothing more.

You just cant point at a higher DAM/DPS stat and grunt, "That's better" while at the same time ignoring all the other stats that matter.

Weapon Order is fine although I think the 12.7 mm Pistol should be acquired at the same time as the Anti-Material Rifle.
