Weapon/Armor perks

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 1:50 pm

Now the following weapon/armor perks have been confirmed:

Swords- Higher chance of critical hits
Axes- Additional bleeding damages
Maces- Ignores armor when attacking

Shields- Protection from certain types of spells (probably just frost, lightning, fire ect).
Armor- Probably the same as shields or maybe different perks for light/heavy armor.

They will probably have higher levels to each perk so you could choose to have bonuses on multiple weapons or specialize in a single weapon increasing the bonus the perk provides or maybe introducing additional bonuses.

For example at first swords get a higher critical chance, so the next time you get a perk you can choose to increase the level of the perk providing maybe an even higher critical chance and the third level could provide an additional bonus like more damage to unarmed opponents.

FOCUS:What kinds of weapon/armor perks do you think will make it into the game?

More perks/bonuses:

Fire spells - Does highest damage
Lightning spells - Drains magicka as well
Frost spells - Drains stamina and slows movement

Daggers get a very high modifier when sneaking behind an opponent for the attack ("like 10x damage" as quoted from the GI feature). Also, although the dagger is still a one-handed weapon skill, it is housed under the sneaking skill banner.

It was also said that now arrows do a lot more damage but are much more expensive. I'm guessing that there has to be a perk for the marksman skill but I have no idea what kind it would be. Something simple like more damage or bonuses like with the other weapons.

Don't shields go under armor? If they get a perk why not heavy/light armor?

Shield perks might be under the Block skill.

It's hard to say anything about it though, because the information we have regarding which skills will be included is pretty scarce at the moment.

If the combat system works out like the way it is described it is surely some progress. And it's good that the damage of a weapon isn't only defined by its size.

Also I like the idea that magic will have different effects on the enemy. Since every race hast its advantages/disadvantages against magic, this could lead to quiet intersting battles.

I'm almost 100% certain that at least one armour skill will be included, considering that there will be 18 skills (instead of 21) and:
  • Mysticism has been removed
  • I think that a passive skill such as athletics will be removed in favour of stamina or endurance (health, magic, stamina)
  • That leaves one more skill to be cut out and there are two armour skills

It will be interesting to see what they have planned... Oh, also, I'm pretty sure that spears won't be in the game :nope:

Anyone have any ideas what kind of perk the war hammers could have?

Also, there will have to be a separate perk for two-handed swords and the type of axe not mentioned in the article. I'm guessing there will be two-and one-handed versions. Although I'm not sure if they will have different perks.

Personally think hammer is too similar to mace to have different perk. But that's not stopping me from equipping both hammer and mace.
