Weapon of Choice ?

they were in oblivion

Akaviri aka 1 type. Morrowind had iron through Daedric. I'd like the return of more than a single type.

All I really want is spears. Sure, I'd be cool if the added all the stuff, but I always play a Melee oriented character that uses spells for, and I always go with either sword and shield, or just a huge sword, spears would be nice choice too. As far as ranged, I always juts use destruction spells.

And armor types, the more, the better.

I picked all for both, you can never have too many choices.

And perhaps some of the existing catagories could be extended? Maybe instead of only having the katana in a steel or daedric put it in all material types. Maybe extend the cutlass as well? and add a scimitar/tulwar/falchion/kilij/something other than pure east or pure west? :)

And the same goes for spears! Every culture EVER has used the spear. And everybody thinks it should be done a different way. Western spears are usually pointy with a leaf or arrow shaped blade. The japanese had the yari which was more of a prism, long and pointy with little to no real edges on the sides to work with. And don't even get me started on the chinese, they have wayyyyy too many variations. I'm just saying, maybe draw from somewhere other than europe or japan for your weapon architecture. Just a thought

I forget, did they ever have a flamberge in any of TES games? For those who don't know what a flamberge is, it is a to handed sword on the scale of a claymore, but with a wicked looking, kind of wavy... almost serpentine blade.

For information, these are the weapon *categories* (tables) in Role Master (no expansions):
* Dagger
* Falchion
* Hand Axe
* Maine Gauche
* Scimitar
* Rapier
* Broad Sword
* Short Sword
* Armored Fist
* Club
* War Hammer
* Mace
* Morning Star
* Whip
* Bola
* Composite Bow
* Heavy Crossbow
* Light Crossbow
* Long Bow
* Short Bow
* Sling
* Battle Axe
* Flail
* War Mattock
* Quarter Staff
* Two Handed Sword
* Javelin
* Lance
* Pole Arm
* Spear
So I ask, why always "bring back". Why never "add some fresh ones"? :) These are the "normal" tables. More exotic ones exists in addon books.

Personaly I always loved the look of a big ole heavy flail.
The kind that weigh as much as a cow and have beveled angular heads. Slow fighting but almost any blow that lands is a deathblow.

Halberds, spears and polearms, all day long. That and a crossbow on my back, then I'm ready for some dragonslaying.

Throwing axes might work for the "viking-y" mood.

Other than that... I don't know - I wouldn't mind chitin and bonemold in the eastern parts where there will surely be some kind of Dunmer influence - but I wouldn't want them to lock themselves down like they did in Oblivion - with "every kind of weapon and armor for every single material".
The actual pic of the altmer race in the manual shows a guy in a robe holding a katana, so maybe elven katanas would make sense... Akaviri are clearly influence by far-east culture, so I could understand them having katanas too.
But warhammers made from glass ? Why ? It just doesn't seem right, does it ? Just like "Dwemer arrows" seemed wrong. Have you seen that last dwemer ? No way could he hold a bow... And if he could the arrows would be too short for human bows.

Actually, my feeling about the whole idea with having "armor tiers" is pretty negative. It's like the game trying to hold your hand in some dumb way, instead of just letting you read the stats.

Dwemer Warhammers > Elven warhammers IMO
Elven arrows > ebony arrows ( I mean come on! Elves and archery are like Fish and water - denying this is morally equivalent to dating the mother of Gary Gygax and never calling her back )

And also I want pauldrons back. Boohoo.

With regards to the materials - I believe they should introduce more, but nothing like bonemold or chitin - those were great in Morrowind because the materials were easily available on Vvardenfell, and often used by the natives - so it fit the scene. If they are going to introduce new ones, use something that is common in Skyrim - for example, Stahlrim (from Bloodmoon), or perhaps more variations of fur, and so on.

I can't believe there are people that vote none.

"The choices!!!! Too many choices!!!"

I want variety. Not everyone ends up with the same weapons and armor because it's the best.

Interesting- there are actually some people that think there's too many weapons already...

I say- the more, the merrier.

I think it would be cool to have all possible weapons.
Maybe a blow dart gun would be cool too for people who like to make poisons.
