Weapon Degradation in Survival mode?

Post » Thu Mar 03, 2016 6:59 am

You know, it's weird that in F4 when firing weapons it still feels strange not having to repair them afterwards, and still effects how I use them. It's almost like I'm cheating. Then I remember, I don't need to repair them now, I can use them as long as the ammo lasts!

It definitely feels a bit weird after having played New Vegas for so long :D

I always find myself thinking over and over

'wow, I can keep this forever?' or

'wow, it still has its full condition and I can fire it as much as I want, without being restricted by the game'

it's great to see this feature being removed :D I wouldn't really mind one, where you have a repair kit with you and can fix your weapons with a few junk parts, but the one from NV with the duplicates was very tedious ^^

I didn't bother to read the whole thread, just the OP. My thought is "Dear God, please NO!" I hated carrying extra guns just to keep my favorite one in top shape. With ammo now having weight, it will make my hoarding of material so much harder!

Yeah this is one of the problems I have with it.

Will you still have a problem if Bethesda Game Studios developed the armor and degradation system to only let the Player Characters (PC's) repair the armor and weapons at workbenches and make the armor and weapons degrade slower?

This could work, but only if the degradation after a full repair and ploish was very slow. Oh and Survival only!

No I don't want armor and weapons to degrade after a full repair and no I don't want armor and weapons to degrade in Survival Mode. I want them to degrade in all difficulty settings.

I don't.

So just making a toggle for it would be a win/win...

Yes I would like to have the option for degradation in hardcoe mode. Maintaining armor & weapons is half the fun of owning them, imo. :gun:

Toggle is the best idea as it will suit the individual.

Yeah you need that toggle option for the 1% of the population that wants it.

I'm sure more than 1% of video gamers want the armor and weapons degradation system added back.

And i'm sure more than one percent of the players would like to have submachine guns added to "hello kitty".

But i don't think they'll get a toggle...

I'm sure video gamers in all different kinds of wants are even.

There seems to be a direct correlation between liking weapon degradation and using emotes. It's a sign of poor taste.

Maybe, maybe not... we'll never know.

Forums typically are a bad medium to get an overview what all players want, since only a minority is reading them.

And those that don't raise their voice in the forums are mostly those that are satisfied with playing games "as they are".

I definitely noticed it was missing from FO4, but I don't particularly miss it. Personally, it doesn't matter to me if it's in or not - that's how inconsequential it is to the game as a whole, IMO.

I do like the idea someone posted above about finding a gun with potential and having to find parts to bring it up to where you want it... but that's kind of the same as finding weapons and modding them to add damage or other features.

No thanks, I don't want my unique weapons I found after 300 hours break after a few usage.

You guys are getting too upset about all of this. Time to close the thread down and let everyone cool down.

Look, I don't care how great anyone thinks their idea is - this is a big forum. No matter what you come up with, you are going to find someone who doesn't like your idea. And they will post to tell if they don't like it.

Moderation-wise, we have to make sure those inevitable criticisms aren't over the line in terms of rudeness. If aren't up to dealing with someone disliking or even being downright against whatever idea you have, you may want to rethink whether creating a thread is really something you want to be doing.
