Weapon Diversity

Post » Mon Nov 23, 2009 6:03 am

I didn't really play Morrowind all that much (yes i know... it's horrible) but one thing i really like was the amount of different types of weapons there were.... wakizashi's, katana's, tonto's, spears, etc. and i was very sad when oblivion only had 1 type of katana and a limited number of different numbers... so do you think they should bring back the weapons from morrowind?

Yes yes and yes also yes. If the only things that changed from Oblivion to Skyrim were weapon and armor diversity as well as level scaling I would be satisfied, not to say theres not more that I want.

Choice and freedom are the fuel of TES IMO. I'd like lots, but I'd also like the ones they have to be well done, and would take quality over quantity.

Good weapons are not hard to push out, ametuer modders made weapons that look better than most of what Oblivion offered us.

I agree, and so I hope Bethesda can bring both quality and quantity to the table.

Who would even want less? Unless they just start making stupid ones...

But they'd never do that to us, so I want a few hundred, maybe thousand!

Or whatever makes sense...

Having a wide variety of weapons makes the game feel less like a game, which is good. The only thing about that is that in order for there to be as many weapons as Morrowind, level scaling would have to change, or disappear.

I really want spears to come back, but then they would have to add a spear skill. Magic and stealth would have to have skills put into them to balance it out, though, so I'm probably just dreaming. It's just strange not to see spears in a fantasy setting.

I loved the amount of weapons in Morrowind, when I first played the game I was amazed, just carried around a bunch of random weapons cause I couldn't decide what to use. In the end I ended up running around for most of the game with an enchanted Daedric Dai-Katana. Long story short, the variety of weapons was awesome but I found that some of the types were useless. I voted more than Oblivion at least. Only more than Morrowind if they are well done and useful, i.e. a weapon type I might consider as a main skill.

I'm for as many as possible as long they are all useful and not half assed.

id like it if they made a bit more sense- in oblivion there were glass warhammers.... glass is mean to be very light, so is not a suitable material for a warhammer. and glass weapons should have been light

id like the lore to make sense with weapons, at the very least spears, crossbows and throwing weapons, but if i hear of a gun i will shoot somebody (the developer)

I hope they have flails. It's been awhile since a TES game had flails available. I love them.

I don't need a thousand different sword types with only different graphics. But I'd like more global types, like crossbows and flails.
However, weapons are not the biggest issue for me. I'd rather have them spend time making pretty much all equipment have a use.
