[Wip] Weapon Enriching

Weapon Enriching

There are several weapon types (ex. short sword, tanto, halberd...) in vanilla morrowind as well as several weapon classes (ex. Dwemer, Iron...)

This simple mod is to fill out every class with every available type, several items you'd expect to be able to find simply do not exist.

These weapons will be available at vendors throughout morrowind, as well as brand new NPCs.

*Quests/Lore* Certain Weapons will not be sold but only be able to obtain through short quests. Also some will be hidden in the world with books/guards to explain them just to add to the richness of this mod.

The Weapon classes I'll be covering are:

Chitin

Iron

Steel

Silver

Dwemer

Nordic

Orcish

Glass

Ebony

Daedric

Well, it's been done before, but that shouldn't stop you from working on this.
Your Tantos look great so far. I really like the glass and ebony you got here.

I'm fond of the silver tanto myself-- I never understood why silver and chitin tantos weren't included. I mean, the Morag Tong had to use SOMETHING in the old days right!? :P

Seriously, I will worship you when you're done.

The tantos look quite promising, while there are perhaps other mods that also do something like this, I haven't seen any that do only this, and in any case, this option looks very good.

Oh I like this! It's a great idea and you certainly have the talent for it, the pictures you've posted look awesome. The only thing I'll critique is the ebony tanto - it may very well just be that I can't see it in very good detail, but in that image it looks to me that there is a kind of 3D triangular design that runs up and down the blade of the sword. While it may look cool, it seems the me that it would just tend to snag the blade on armor and bones. Of course, I have no idea what I'm talking about and I'm basing this on just that one pic you uploaded so it's very likely that I'm completely wrong. :^)

Now as to Pluto's claim that this has been done before... has it? Where can I find that mod?

This, has been done-ish. Not like what i'm doing here but there are weapon adding mods out there that add similer things. Correct me if i'm wrong(link?) but nothing like THIS has been done that i've seen and i've played Morrowind and Oblivion since 2005 and modded for about 2 years. I just felt that while Morrowinds variety exeds Oblivion, it still needs more.

Very nice work you got there! The orc tanto and ebony dagger are my favorites. :)
Some of these weapons have been made before, but not at this scale and not, dare I say it, at this quality.
e.g. I recall seeing a Daedric Broadsword mod, a retex of an Ebony broadsword.
Tamriel Rebuilt sports a Dwemer Staff, a Dwemer Longspear, an ebony Dai-Katana... Infact, many but definitely not all weapons.
Here, look at their UESP page: http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Tes3Mod:Tamriel_Rebuilt/Weapons
More variety is good! Please, carry on! My one suggestion is to make your weapons different from the TR ones.

Yeah, I'm looking at the ebony tanto. Look at the sharpened side of the blade. Compare it to, say, the silver tanto. The metal on the silver blade is smooth from tip to hilt, but the ebony blade's smoothness is interrupted every few inches by these lines drawn perpindicular-ish to the cutting edge. In that image the lines look to me like 3D "bumps" and I imagine they would not make a very pratical design for a sword edge. Like I said before, I'm basing this on just one not-so-detailed pic of the sword so it's very likely that I'm completely wrong. Hopefully I am and there's nothing for you to fix so you can forge ahead with the project. :^)

It may very well be done in TR, but I really hope you are still going to make your own versions of those weapons anyway. For one thing, your work looks superb. For another, I for one don't use TR at this point and it would be nice for those of us who don't to still have those weapons available.

Everything you've made looks gorgeous so far. I like the glass saber and the dwarven battlestaff in particular. I love that you used different meshes, so the dwemer saber doesn't look exactly like the glass one for example.

A definate download when it's done, and I suspect a new must-have mod for me.

Looking great!
Question: are these new textures you've made? Or are they just what you have installed, like Darknut's or something?

Okay my friend you get an answer and history lesson  okay, I didn't know what you ment at first because that *looks* 3d however thats all done with my textures and it was intender. The reason its like that is *Ebony* is volcanic glass, very similer to glass. It wouldn't be as plyable as metal and would have defects. As well, it would be EXTREMELY hard and brittle like say, flint and therefor chip anyways. Which would form waves like that. If you would like, i could remove the waves *just for you* and i'd be more than happy to send you just that through email or something. But otherwise I would like that to stay. Thank you :)

YES, several of the are brand new meshesor edited meshes as well as they are mostly brand new textures, there ALL altered at least and they are all done by me. If it doesn't come off the CS cd, Photoshop or blender on my computer I wont put it in this mod. Sense this is my first public release I would like it to only showcase my work. Thank you for the suport

Good luck. But making brand new textures is not necessarily a good thing. Many of us use hi-res texture replacers. The more default textures you use, the better your weapons will blend into everyone's game.

...Because then your weapons' textures will have been replaced by the ones which color the rest of the game.
Which are often better quality than the Bethesda defaults.

Know what I mean? :P

I like the Dwemer Saber, but the guard on the Glass Cutlass could use a denser texture.

If you're modding the Textures of someone else you'll need permission to use/release them with your mod.
If that's what that your sentence meant by not using the originals. Or did you just mean for the screenshots?

No! thats not what I ment, the modded textures are original, but the few vanilla textures used from in game have been replaced by "Visual Pack". I was saying that to satisfy burunduk. I am not stealing or moddifying textures made by anyone else. The fex vannila textures in my screenshots are enhanced on my computer by visualpack, but anyone without it will just have the very originals when they download it, or whatever enhancer thay have....

if that makes sense

These look very cool, I would certainly use this mod when released. Will there be an optional (unless this is already the goal of the mod...) .esp where bandits and such would be given these weapons randomly based on the players level? I think that would be a nice way to ensure that we are always running into them.

Nice work so far, I like the Orcish dagger and the Dwemer Scmitar especially! Keep up the good work! :goodjob:
