[Relz] Weapon Mesh Improvements

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 7:52 am

I've been slowly (very slowly) remaking the meshes for the stock weapons in Morrowind so they are abit smoother. I still wanted them to retain similar design aspects as they originally had and keep the vanilla textures so any texture replacers that are used affect the way these weapons look. So far I have done One complete set of weapons and one style subcatagory of weapons. Screenshots are in the links and some below. :)

This replaces the meshes of the Iron weapons in Morrowind with slightly higher polycount versions. They still use Bethesda stock textures so they look different depending on what texture replacer you are running. This mod is designed to be plugin-less and so, just contains meshes and Icons, there are no textures and no esp's.

This gives the uniquely named Iron weapons thier own unique Meshes and Icons. They still use Bethesda stock textures so they look different depending on what texture replacer you are running.

It affects the following weapons:

Banhammer:
Gives the Banhammer an improved mesh based on the original Iron Warhammer and replaces the Iron Warhammer with a more Iron looking weapon mesh.

Light of day:
There are two versions of this weapon. You have a choice of it retaining an Iron appearence or changing it to be an Ebony weapon as the some of the community think the weapon should be.

Seasplitter (Bloodmoon only)
This unqiue Iron weapon only appears in Bloodmoon. Now it will have a unique mesh as well.

Temreki, the Shackler of Souls:
Will now have a unique mesh.

I will continue working on these and slowly release more.

I've been really curious about this myself. Maybe steel weapons?

Psymoniser, you forgot about the Iron Fork that's a weapon in the CS. I realized this because I have one on a table in a mod that I'm working on...of course the iron fork isn't actually present though anywhere in vanilla MW.

Ahhh...just remembered its actually the same mesh used by the Fork of Horripilation. So there is actually one iron fork in the game.

Thanks everyone :D
The Unique Iron weapons are now up for download on TESNexus, links in the first post, I've also added some screenies to the first post as well.

Most likely Steel, I want to get the more mundane weapons done first.

I'll get around to the Fork of Horripilation and maybe do a unique mesh for the fabled Iron Fork as well ;)

Excellent. I really enjoy the fact you just went for a tweaking the stock meshes instead of just replacing them. No conflict with new textures, and a huge improvement in the looks of my weapon collection. Thank you!

These are great! They look especially good with Darknut's textures. How are the others doing?

How many more polygons did you add to the meshes?

Things are going slowly at the moment will have some screenies soon.

Techincally I didn't add any to the original mesh, I built a new mesh from scratch (using primatives and splines) based on the old one.

Here is a quick comparison

Original Bethesda Iron Dagger = 220 Polygons

My Remade Iron Dagger = 3224

Original Bethesda Iron Longsword = 142 Polygons

My Remade Iron Longsword = 1774 Polygons

Original Bethesda Iron Mace = 186 Polygons

My Remade Iron Mace = 1326 Polygons

Hope that helps.

Wow, then your meshes might have some fps hit. In any case, they are wonderful.

Awesome meshes. Thanks for your hard work and time.

BTW...what program are you using to make the meshes? Just curious.

Is work on this still continuing? It's fantastic how they are just better, but not different versions of the original meshes. My hope, personally, is that someone can do the same for the armor meshes one day.
