Weapon Mobility

Post » Fri May 13, 2011 3:55 pm

Will each weapon have a certain weight to it? In other words, will a light body with 2 sidearms run faster than a light woth 1 sidearm and one light weapon? I hope that's the case. I love games that do that. Like MW2, but no Black Ops because I mean the net weight, not just the gun you are using at the moment.

Nothing has been specified about movement but switch, raise and aim speed are affected by weapon weight. personally equipping 2 sidearms are handicaps, just stick with the bread and butter and forget the frois gras.

Compendium, dude. I don't have the link, but I'm pretty sure it's at fragworld.

A heavy with a grenade launcher and an assault rifle will move the same speed as a heavy with two pistols. However, when you add attachments to weapons, it decreases your draw speed. In that respect, drawing a bare assault rifle will be quicker than switching out to the same assault rifle with a scope, drum magazine, silencer, flashlight, Hello Kitty keychain, etc. .

Weapons don't affect your movement speed, but attachments effect your "equip" speed, which a stat listed for each weapon.

I think both should be effected. If you have a SMG with every attachment it will be heavier to carry, and take longer to equip than one that doesn't.

A gun that makes you move slower is definitely gonna be harder (and thus slower) to pull up to your face. Weight is weight, whether it's being added to your overall total by being slung across your back or making you struggle against it for momentum while running up a hill.

That is determined by body type, which does affect your carried weapons as stated in your previous thread.

Also, more question marks will get Splash Damage's attention, bro.

No adding speed but I do recall hearing that overmodification will not allow the body type to carry it. Say a ridiciously modded assault rifle can't be carried by a medium since its too heavy. Haven't heard a lot about this lately so I could be wrong.

Movement speed is already regulated by the body-types. A Heavy really shouldn't get further punished for carrying a heavy weapon.

Weight is weight, whether it's being added to your overall total by being slung across your back or making you struggle against it for momentum while running up a hill.

Yet carrying something in your hands is a lot more exhausting than carrying it on your back.

Heavies SHOULD get punished for carrying a heavy weapon cuz if it's heavy then it's probably good.

They already get punished because they are heavy.

The reward on the other hand is, that they can wield those heavy weapons.

They're already punished. They're fat, easy to shoot, and can't climb over anything higher than thier hips.

It works well for balancing. The fat fella with the massive LMG wont be able to start shooting as fast as the little man with the SMG, but once he starts, he'll do more damage.

As a runner I can say that outside of serious sprint speed and endurance over long distances, additional weight up to a certain amount has minimal effect.

The difference between me running carrying nothing and carrying 20lbs of extra weight isn't particularly noticable.

Sprinting is different, but the guys in games never actually sprint, they do a quick run. You put them next to a sprinter and you'll notice.

Since the big guys already can't run as fast I think they've already suffered the speed penalty for weapon weight. Equip speed I can see as being different, since drawing a pistol and aiming is substantially quicker than drawing a rifle to position and aiming. I've never tried it with a mini-gun, but I would think the same idea would apply.
