ah yes the M1897 trenchgun, so nasty germany wanted it classed as a war crime to use, the military model with heat shield and bayonent mount is one sixy thing.
I wonder if there will be a way to mod ammo, reuse shell casings and stuff like that as well? I found this kind of useful in NV for certain ammunition types. I also hope there's a ton of crazy junk made weapons like the railway rifle and mods to do even crazier things with those. .. like make an electrified railway rifle... or super heated railway rifle. (I have no idea how those would even work in reality but it'd still be fun to fire glowing red railway spikes that burst into flame when they hit something.)
Silencers and scopes will most likely be my goto mod for any weapon though.. so I hope there's plenty of those for any weapon... no matter how silly it might actually seem. "now to pull out my scoped, silenced derringer and...."
I'm not really sure what I want just yet as I haven't decided what weapon type my PC will specialize in, lasers, plasma or projectile. He will be a sniper, so anything long range and scoped will be a must. He will also need some type of close range weapon like a combat shotgun as well. Man 82 days can't go quick enough!
I just hope we get some choice on what calibre of ammo our player created guns can use, If .50 isn't in I will not be impressed.
Guess they aren't that quiet...friendo http://money.cnn.com/2015/02/01/news/companies/silencers-guns/
But when has reality ever stopped video game logic? "Silencers" are a staple of shooters.
EDIT: the article is about the silencer remmus mentions. 155 decibels unsupressed vs 132 decibels supressed
i hope they will put in a mod where you can change how many laser bursts come out the end of the laser rifle or pistol . like a switch you can flip for one or up to 4 .
I think the weapon mod system is here to allow for more weapon variety than there was previously. We haven't seen the full extent of it yet, but even if we're lacking a .50 BMG ammo type I think there would still be something that feels quite the same as the anti-materiel rifle.
Ammo reloading and all of that wonderful crafting bits are something that has been tight-lipped, however. Crafting my own ammo was a lot of fun, and I think that with the major push for this weapon mod system this includes all forms of crafting, but then that is just speculation and we have no way of knowing at the current time.
I don't think you'll get anybody saying that these should be removed rather than kept, but it's entirely possible that they were reworked into a different system rather than one that is the same as in New Vegas. I think I saw a few options for making new barrels in the weapon mod menu in the E3 footage. Maybe we have ammo types to go with those barrels? Like you can get your 5.56 match from New Vegas through a normal barrel, but the Match ammo isn't a straight upgrade from standard ammo, its just +accuracy and you could use that match ammo through a marksman barrel to go full with the accuracy or through a longer or heavier barrel to get more damage. A lot of the ammo types in NV were just straight upgrades from the normal ammo, and I get the impression that crafting in Fallout 4 is more about specializing instead of making everything better across the board.
For a Plasma Rifle:
Solid Butt-stock
Bolt Accelerator
Reflex Sight
Recycler (all shots half-cost)
