Do you put everything at 2cm from your eyes ?

No speaking that in that screen your character look to have fused the weapon in his cheek.. Sure its a post apo world but... please ! a little respect.

Dear lord...

With the Institute Rifle, it's truly annoying - the gun takes up a huge portion of your screen. No other weapon that I've used has been that bad.

Yeah it is a big gun, does take up a lot of screen space but its supposed to be a big rifle.

No it shouldn't, if it's hip position, the gun shouldn't be that close, if it's scope sight, then the scope should be near the middle instead of top right.

Pretty sure they just made one "gun holding" animation/position for rifles, one for pistols, etc...and didn't customize that for the clunky and unusual ones like this. I doubt anyone tested it and went "yep this looks right, people would definitely hold this gun like this."

Just out of curiosity, if you found out they were, would you feel somewhat bad about this post?

Thankfully, I already got http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/522/? for this.

If you actually compare the model size of the Laser Rifle to the Institute Laser Rifle, the Institute rifle is much larger.

That mod is fairly buggy from what I've read.

http://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/59409/?

This mod, ported to FO4, would be much better imo. Maybe someone could try adding those INI variables to FO4 and see if it works? Requires NVSE/F4SE

Yep, I picked it up last night as well. I was really confused as to whether it was a heavy weapon when I equipped it.

Honestly, when I picked up this rifle I thought, wow, this gun takes up almost half my screen. I am not going to use this.

It is a bit ridiculous I agree.

But it is the only gun I have seen, where this problem is truly bad.

As someone who handles handguns and rifles in real life....

I find the system in the game pretty sad but I got to say, similar was in prior titles in this game line.

In prior FO versions this was addressed via community mods for proper animation and weapon handling while running or walking with weapon out, both in

first person and 3rd.

I'm just going to have to wait for the mods to arrive for proper alteration of the system here in FO4. HOpefully someone with enough time and animation

skills will show up....

The current mod referenced above is a crude first effort and is about the best we can expect prior to toolkit arrival.

Given the amount of time since last FO3 release I would have thought Bethesda could have afforded enough animators to do the job right the first time.

Well, I suppose that is why they support modding, they don't have to do that. It shows.

IT seems huge swaths of the game design is just done with the 'good enough leave it at that' as the standard.

Oh, and I am enjoying the game but a duck is a duck.

To call it something else is just silly.

I find that the Vanilla game sometimes does this for you, but not consistently. It happens when I walk around corners or into objects, for instance.

3rd person will allow you to see more than 1st person anyway.

Yeah, I think the guy just took that animation and made it static instead of conditional.

It is a bit OTT. So what do you think of the dog-brained .357 machinegun in FONV?

I've said that about a lot of the guns in this game. It's almost as if they tried to do all the things that were rare IRL. .38 being the most common ammo it seems. 10mm everywhere but not a single 9mm at all. Left side bolt handles. I don't like energy weapons, and most of the combat rifles I've used haven't been too intrusive, so this problem with the size doesn't bother me quite so much. I also only play 3rd person.

You and the OP must not have been in the military. If you shouldered a weapon that large which is what he's doing, that's acceptable. There should be an animation that drops the gun down lower (all guns) when not used after say 2 minutes. Different than holstering.

https://4gwar.files.wordpress.com/2010/11/africom-nov23210.jpg

I'd like to unholster and have the animation go to what you see on the left and then transition to the guy in the middle when not used (apparently hard to find an image with both positions in Google).

You are wrong, i did served in the army.

You are also wrong about the concept totally, the "shoulder position" is in fact the position when you right click to aim.The way they program this game, you will be looking at the sight/scope with your target in the background.
When you are not holding right click, that would be the so-call hip position, all we see is just the barrel of the gun.

Got it? if you still don't get it, i don't know how to explain further.

Please don't use example in the real world, to compare with the world in game. We can have dozen of positions in real life, but only 3 in game, aim, hip and stealth.
I don't think any company will program what you ask of into the game, but you can hope for a mod.

You're wrong unfortunately. But something tells me no amount of explaining it will work. You just keep on being angry with a tiny little problem (get it). If you don't like it, holster the gun between uses. There's also a magical third person option you can use. Bu like I said, I can't imagine you doing anything but complaining. Based on your approach so far.
