Weapon Range Listing

Is there a list showing the range numbers for the various weapons? I couldn't find any documented range values.

There's no actual range stat for any weapon in the game - you have to look at the weapon spread stat to determine the effective range of it. The lower the spread value, the longer the range at which you can consistently hit with the weapon.

A spread of zero (which you get with some weapons like Lincoln's Repeater and the Sniper Rifles) means that the weapon will hit the exact spot you're aiming at every time you fire it.

If you shoot free hand, as I do, you will find that the range of weapons far exceeds VATS. I can tag someone at about 150 yards with the hunting rifle. Of course if you are using the Rock-it Launcher as I was the other day, the range dramatically decreases outside of VATS. I can free hand it with an effective range of about 20 yards. With a sniper rifle, you will be amazed at how far off you can tag someone, outside of VATS that is.

If I understand it correctly, weapons don't neccessarily have a "range". The projectile itself, the bullet, has a maximum range setting in the GECK, and the projectile, when it reaches that point, ceases to exist in the game word. Modeling effective range on weapons can't really be done any other way with the engine, since in order to do this, you would have to make each projectile a physics object for gravity settings to effect them. Imagine a firefight with a coulpla guys with miniguns and the massive number of physics object that would be generated. Systems and the engine just couldn't handle that.
