Weapon Repair Dead money

Post » Sat Jun 26, 2010 3:55 am

I keep hearing people talk about not getting jury rigging if i get dead money. Whats the reason? And why would bethesda put something in the game that makes things so easy?

There's a vending machine code for weapon repair kits, but that doesn't help you with armor so Jury rigging is still great. New Vegas was made by Obsidian and it's not like it was hard to begin with...

Infinite weapon repair kits OMG! That makes repair skill irrelevant tbh.

I don't know why people make the Weapon Repair kits though.

One Sierra Madre token = one unit of old world money, which is worth 10 caps. So basically, if you win big at the casino there and cash it all out for Old world money, you can get 100 grand worth of caps. Sure there are certain weapons or weapon condition levels that are too expensive to have an NPC repair, but 100 grand seems a lot more flexible than having 100 weapon repair kits that aren't worth a darn. I'd just get 10-20 repair kits and cash out with the rest.

So does Old Lady Gibson, it's just not as obvious.

Why would you worry about conserving or converting sierra madre chips though? They're infinite.

Because the option to get Old World money in exchange for chips isn't available at the machines, it's only available at the casino cashier itself. This means you've got all the time in the world to convert your weekly Sierra Madre chips to weapon repair kits, but you can only get the nice Old World money profit out of the Sierra Madre before you leave it.

If you decide to abuse the vending machine, and if you have no problem paying people to repair your rare or unique armor, then yes, it makes Jury Rigging obsolete.

Just remember, you aren't entitled to complain about something if you chose to abuse it :whistling:
