What the title says...a weapon repair kit will not fix a weapon that is completely broken right? Because it fixes the weapon you currently have equipped and you cant equip a weapon that is broken right???? that svcks! :banghead:

You could take it to someone who has a low Repair skill and have them do it. That way you don't spend a ton and it won't be broken.

One of the many reasons the Jury-Rig perk rocks.

One of the many reasons the Jury-Rig perk rocks.

Man, I worked and worked my Repair skill - got it up to seventy-something, but 90...?
That's not easy. Concessions must be made!
My guy is also very strong in Speech, Science, Medicine and Barter.
And I have so many caps (not even needing the more-caps perk) that it's attractive to just go to Old Lady Gibson with completely trashed items.
But it's sure not easy to get that repair so high, before hitting The Strip or Level 30 - whichever comes first!

Have you got the books? Books (not magazines) boost those skills permanently without needing to level up (even better if you took the Retention perk or whichever it is that doubles the boost or whatever)

Comprehension is the one that doubles the effect (from 10+ to 20+, And 3+ to 4+ in books.)

And Jury Rigging is epic.

I never leave home without my Jury, Or my rigs.

Yeah, I get +20 from magazines (instead of +10).
Probably I found a Repair book at some point as well; don't remember.
But they're pretty rare! Unless you will player.additem - which I will not do...
Gonna take a whole library to buff that repair skill through the roof!
But then, I'm not playing hardcoe even though it would make things a lot more like S.T.A.L.K.E.R. (which I love).
Point is, the jury-rigger would probably be more important in hardcoe...?

It would have been interesting to be able to take a broken weapon to a workbench and then be able to apply a repair kit.

No it's not easy...but then things that are worth the effort seldom are. I took the perk late with my first character, it proved so useful character #2 got it within a level or two of when it became avail. Not only does it enable the economical repair of high value or rare items, it provides a way to make caps by finding or buying worn out stuff, repairing it then selling it for a massive profit. I like buying reinforced leather armor (if avail for 300 caps or less) or looting it off Jackal and Scorpion gang corpses...repairing it with the outfits I get off Freeside thugs, then selling it in Novac for ~1050 caps each. And if you save the T-51 armor off the dead BoS Paladins from McNamera's scav teams...you can repair one for you, one for Veronica and repair the other 4 to sell for 3500-4500 odd caps each. All it requires is the patience to save up or buy enough suits of metal armor. Jury-Rigging is so useful I'm surprised the masochists haven't started pressuring the devs for a nerf yet.
