Weapon swap? I think you are talking about hotkeys. When in the pipboy menu screen,(Is this for PC, 360, or PS3?) it will say in the top right corner of the PB screen things like Repair, drop, and

!HOTKEY!- hold the button it lists beside the word "Hotkey", next,

For xbox 360 and 360, press either up, down, left, right, up-left, down-left, up-right, or down-right on the D-pad and...
For PC, press either 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8, or 9 and...

the game will hotkey that item to that specific button, so if you hotkey a gun, when in game mode (not in the Pipboy or paused screen), press the hotkey button for the item you want to use, and PRSTO! The item is used or equiped. You can do this with Meds, guns, armors, and tons of stuff, I found it useful to Hotkey Stimpacks, nice to not constantly flip through my piles of loot in my pipboy to find my favourite gun.

I'd recommend only using four hotkeys, for the main compass directions, because if you attach eight it becomes quite hard to actually hit the one you want. Stupid D-pad.

I had a 360 and I would have agreed with you then, but I now have a PS3. The "D-Pad" on the PS3 controller is actually four separate buttons. I now have no problems using all available directions. So I agree the 360's d-pad is terrible.

I didn't know how to use hotkeys until now. Thanks.
