Weapon's

I definitely agree with the .44 Desert Eagle. It was in the original games and it was also one of my favorite guns. The .223 pistol was a good one too.

Why not .50 Desert Eagle?

They should do a new energy rifle that has a battery backpack like the minigun/flamer. It could fire mortars like the incinerators do but made of plasma instead.

Some more mods would be cool, like a mod for the 9mm to turn it into a m93 raffica would be bad! Deffenitly think the ak should be brought back, Thompson would be cool with some mods to make it a Tommy gun and the m60 would be tight! I deffenitly agree with the crossbow to. And the .50 cal desert eagle is pretty much the 12.7mm pistol

Well you presume there would be a few in sin city and it fits perfectly in the hand so beating a feral ghoul with it would be a pleasure.

Lets bring in a plasma thrower - it would be like a flamer but - you guessed it. fires plasma.

EPIC.

really this is not TES forum, one of the reasons Legion is so borring to figth is that they can't even get clouse enougth to do any damage, bringing a knive to a gun figth is never a good idea

Maybe not in NV (because it wouldnt look that good with the engine IMO) but some sort of hand mounted-knife-launcher thing.
Or a round drum AA-12:)

I think that before people propose weapons that they should look at it from a game design perspective. How do they fit into the "weapon ecology" of the game? Are they a lower/higher level version of an existing weapon category that will be useful as you start out or at end game? Do they fill a niche that isn't currently filled?

Look at FO3 and FO:NV and what they have added. The Gauss Rifle filled a huge hole in the weapon spec tree: a standoff-range weapon for energy users. switching flamers to energy weapons gave them a "knife-fight" range option.

I don't see what the Desert Eagle would bring to the game (besides a very overrated gun), same for the Glock. In fact Glock is probably impossible, they are pretty protective of their trademark, and how would it represent any difference over the existing 9mm (which looks to be a hi-power or clone of the browning design)?

The Crossbow I can see, that is a hole, it's a mid-range ranged silent option and a way to deploy poisons at range (a real boon to survival-tagged characters).

Sword would duplicate the existing melee weapons without offering anything in addition, plus, where in the Mojave would you get a sword? maybe as a unique weapon (found in a museum or something) I could see it.

Create-a-weapons I totally dig on though... I'd love to see three, four or even more times what we have now. Crafting in FO:NV feels like an afterthought, other games have made it far more integral. I'd like to see them use more of the KotOR 2 model there.

Samurai swords from a downed chinese bomber somehow preserved? Maybe the Chinese had a version of corporal Hicks who kept one just for "Close encounters"?

Weapons ostensibly designed before timeline break (~1960)
9mm pistol - Browning Hi-Power
.357 Revolver - Colt Single Action Army
.44 Magnum Revolver - S&W Model 29
Police Pistol - Colt Police Positive
Automatic Rifle - Browning M1918
BB Gun - Daisy Red Rider
Brush Gun - Marlin Model 1895
Cowboy Repeater - Winchester Model 1873
This Machine - M1 Garand
Trail Carbine - Winchester Model 1892
Varmint Rifle - pick any generic bolt action .22
9mm SMG - M3 "Grease Gun"
Caravan Shotgun - pick any generic over-under shotgun
Hunting Shotgun - pick any generic pump-action shotgun
Lever-action Shotgun - Winchester Model 1887
Sawn-off Shotgun - pick any generic double barrel shotgun
Single Shotgun - pick any generic break-action single shotgun

Weapons ostensibly designed after timeline break that exist IRL
Hunting Revolver - Magnum Research BFR
Silenced .22 Pistol - Ruger MkII
Anti-materiel Rifle - PGM Hecate II
Assault Carbine - Colt CAR-15
Hunting Rifle - Remington 700
Marksman Carbine - Colt M4
Service Rifle - Colt AR-15
Silenced .22 SMG - American 180
Riot Shotgun - pick any generic semi-auto shotgun
Mini-gun - General Electric XM214

Weapons ostensibly designed after timeline break with no close RL counterpart
10mm Pistol - vaguely resembles modular pistol of current day, e.g., H&K USP
12.7mm Pistol - chambered for same round as IMI Desert Eagle, with no other similarities
That Gun - resembles Blade Runner pistol
Sniper Rifle - vaguely resembles modern rifles, e.g., XM2010
10mm SMG - vaguely resembles modern SMGs, e.g., Vz-61 Scorpion
12.7mm SMG - vaguely resembles TDI Vector.
Light Machinegun - vaguely resembles modern squad automatics, e.g., M249 SAW
All Energy Weapons

All references to RL weapons are merely my impressions or from info released by devs. You are welcome to disagree. Did I miss any?

-Gunny out.

In my opinion, there are no weapons that break the timeline as the game is set in the future.

(ps, the service rifle looks more like an AR-10 than an ar-15 to me and the Automatic Rifle is more a Colt Monitor/FN D, but this is just me nitpicking)

Why not .50 Desert Eagle?

Because then the game would need ANOTHER caliber. Also, .50AE is a plain moneydrain compared to .44 Mag in my opinion.

I think the game needs some good ol' Flintlock.
And as said atleast a dozen times before, bows and or crossbows. They're easy to make, they're stealthy and can pack quite the punch on soft armor.
Thompson/Center Contender would be great for this game. It has lots of upgrade possibilities, is single shot, easy to get in a variety of calibers.
Liberator could work as well, crappy precision, slow reload (takes longer to reload than to make a new gun) very large drop in damage over range, but good as an absolute last resort weapon. (or starting weapon)

What I want to understand is why all these newer fans want all of these modern weapons in the game? The whole idea of the game is to be different form our universe, in a sense a parrallel dimension kinda. I would like to see all of the old weapons from the previous fallouts like the bozar (no one remembers that one) and the energy weapons that were epic eye candy.

I enjoy the difference from our universe to fallout's, Fallout throws you into a whole new set of rules for social structure and life. So it's like your living in another persons shoes so to speak. Adding "modern day weapons" from our universe would only serve to damage the fallout universe timeline (kinda like saying no one actualy developed these or even used these in the fallout universe but a portal opened up and dropped a bunch of glocks).

I'm already upset with some of the guns that don't exactly fit with the fallout style but I understand the need for variety. I just wish the would have maintained the same weapons from the other games, and yes "we have all seen them" at least the older fans like me, but there are so many of them and so many different kinds that I doubt anyone would really whine or cry about a plentifull weapons inventory.

Hey anyone remember that energy gun from fallout 2, it charged with sunlight so at night if you ran out of ammo you were boned.

I'd like to have the Widowmaker back, and a XL70E3.
I'd also like the classic Tesla armour from Fallout 1 & 2. Not a weapon, but still.
