From what I've heard the distinction between weapons is now 2-handed vs 1-handed instead of differentiating by type (blunt/axe/sword/etc).

But perks within each skill differentiate further. (like, you can get perks that make swords better. Or axes. Or maces.)

some decent designs. Not so sure about the first sword, though (just doesn't have a TES feel to it, imo). And the katana looks...well...not like a katana. It has a pretty sharp angle there in the middle and no tip, just flat at the top, not to mention it's ridiculously long, even for a dai-katana, and would be fairly useless as an actual weapon because of it being so thin and so long at the same time. The rest look pretty good, though.

(I study historical weaponry, so I can be pretty critical about weapon designs that are based on real, historical weapons.)

Well I hope they will also have different animations for weapons types, warhammer as two handed has different moves then great sword, as one handed longsword will not have the same animations thats daggers has.
Thous perks will required additional combination input of standard movements with unique animation at end thats apply effect of perk to target,
not just eventually all maces receive armor ignoring for all strikes (for all strikes better add increased armor durability damage perk) but special one strike with all power included at end of series of power attacks like left power attack, right power attack, forward power attack and then next backward power attack instead of normal backward power attack animation use new special one for armor ignoring damage.

1 handed, and two handed weapons in the blunt, axe, and sword catagory. As well as Bow's, arrows, and magical staff/wand type things. That's all we really know. Until we get some more indepth stuff and some better gameplay we cant say much.

Make some halberds and polearm bladed weapons. And some cool staves. Look at the staves on the concept art wall in the Art of Skyrim vid to see what I mean.

As said, primarily one handed and two handed. There seems to be some polearm-type weapons, such as pole-axes. There's *probably* going to be two handed swords, as well as longsword, short-swords and daggers. The usual.

As far as suggestions go, I'd like to see some traditional-style weapons. Artistic license is nice and all but it's always great to have a proportionate and elegant swords and bows. Maybe some oak, yew, and osage longbows. Some traditional steel iron and steel claymores would be epic, as well as a Scottish basket-hilt broadsword.

Yeah but how many polys is that?

All mine are realy low poly. (Under 1000)

With the adition of short staves I suppose I could add in my wands I made for Shards Of Destiny. Since theyre allready modeled and textured.

they are over 3000, but I can make it so that they are under about 800 and still looks kinda decent

Well make as many weapons as you think neccessary, then texture them. Then we can put them all into a compilation mod, and add them to the leveled lists, and give ALOT more weapons to the game.

oh and I am just saying that it looks like your model is still solid, you should try changing it to smooth (not really sure what this is in blender) they do look pretty good, I wish I could make my weapons that creative

I am hoping I can get some weapons in a mod myself

The second to last weapon is totally impractical! That thing's just as liable to stab the wielder!

saber 13 min, 1670 faces, 1700 vertices, that puts it at about the right range, according to turbosquid it should be between 0 and 2000 for a weapon,

Im using Maya, and I have set the normals to "face" For the time being, its easier to work with when moddeling. Then after Im done Ill average the normals.

1670 polys seems like a lot for just a small weapon like that.

I wouldnt waste polys on the handel grip as you wont see that when its in your hand.

yeh the polys are a lot becuase there are like 32 for each circle on the handle, I tried to decimate it as best as I could, but it didnt work that well, for my first saber though it worked pretty well

and I am just wondering why do you model in maya that seems much more for animations or at least organic models

I like them. My favorite is the 3rd.
The 1st, 2nd, 13th and 15th look too high-fantasy for my tastes though

I like the short swords they look pretty neat the rest are kinda meh to me, not because they're bad just not to my taste. The last short sword on the right sort of resembles the master sword from legend of zelda as I remember it (it's been a while so I could be wrong) was that intended?

I've heard your suggestions and I've altered a couple of my swords and started making sum hammers/maces.

Its pointless making a crossbow if crossbows arnt in the game, etc.

Nothing is pointless if modding allow bring it back to game

Maybe Skyrim will be more friendlier in animation modding then previous games was?
