weapon upgrades

Post » Wed May 18, 2011 8:52 pm

i read the playstation mag that has recently came out with alot of nice information, one tid bit i think that has been overlooked by the new information threads is the ability to upgrade weapons. it was stated twice that you can upgrade them through the smithing system, and ( if i read correctly ) you can use the 13 ores to craft, repair, and upgrade weapons. so that would mean i could take a sword, upgrade it, enchant it, and hopefully add poison to it making a really nice piece of equipment.

but my real reason for this thread is to discuss what kind of upgrades do you think we will get? could we take a ebony blade and add a silver edging to the blade to add a silver effect that would hurt ghosts and undead? can i sharpen swords giving them a temperary bonus to damage, or hone axes makeing the bleed effect last longer for a couple of uses?

what do you think we could do to our weapons to upgrade them?

It's basically the same story where people think a bag looks like an argonian. Or a man in background is... well, anything.

People assume this sword is made of glass while ignoring lightning and other things.

I would at least hope that it will allow at least two things - one, as OP suggested, to somehow blend or lace or trim a weapon with silver in order to make a normal weapon effective against things that resist normal weapons, and two, to simply make it possible to improve the quality of weapons so that things don't become obsolete - so that my barbarian, for instance, can use iron throughout the game without being terribly gimped.

I want a sniper scope on my daedric warhammer!

/stupidity

I reckon it'll just be a more integrated of the level 75 armourer perk where you could 'repair' something to 125% and increase the damage dealt. I think you'll be able (through unexplained, invisible modifications) to increase damage, reduce weight, increase 'toughness' (how slowly the weapons degrades) and so on.

I doubt we'll be able to customise the weapon's appearance, but that WOULD be a nice touch indeed. Oh, and I'd also like to be able to name unenchanted weapons, and also rename them if I change my mind.

That would be an advantage of mixed class, wouldn't it :D Smith yourself a peice of metal chuck norris, enchant it like a seven gram rock banged by charlie sheen and poisen it until it speaks to you in the voice of David Hayter.
