Weapons are all wrong

Post » Tue Dec 13, 2011 12:16 pm

I have 100 blacksmith and have gone down the light armor line. Now when I upgrade weapons I find that steel gives me the best results and 1H is better then 2H or the same. I can see how glass and elven and steel all get a boost from my perks and make them better then ebony of daerdric. What I think is wrong is that steel in this case a Scimitar (its really a cutlass) has 51 damage and weighs 10 and a glass hammer is only 49 and weighs 29. I have found this with all the 1H and 2H weapons of different types.

Is there any purpose for 2H weapons and why change any weapon when a simple steel war axe can out perform every other weapon. The whole combat system needs a major overhaul welcome to Skyrim beta.

First, I have to ask, are your one-handed and two-handed skill levels the same?

You probably have damage perks in the 1H tree or more 1 Handed skill then 2 Handed skill; I would note that the damage displayed is your effective damage and not the base damage of the weapon. 2 Handed weapons generally do have more damage then 1 Handed (notably Ebony blade has less but that's mainly down to the fact it has an infinite charge 10~30 absorb health enchantment on it)

The damage which displays for the weapons is dependent upon your respective skill level and perks for said weapon type.

This should be included in a sticky of people talking about what is horribly wrong with Skyrim, when really it's just them not understanding how the game works.

Multiple factors contributing to this.

-Skill level in the associated skills
-Perks in the associated skill trees
-Enchants (Sure Grip and Wielding)

If you have nothing but One Handed perks, a high level One Handed skill, and zero perks in Two Handed, well, then yes, the One Handed weapons are going to do more damage. Don't be silly.

And not knowing how it works is fine. Nothing wrong with asking for help. It's the going straight to "OMG I paid for betaz!!!!" that is infuriating.

lol thats so much fun. anyway i am gonna guess that your 1h skill is about 3x that of your 2h skill, and since you specced up the light armor side of the tree, you probably cant upgrade ebony and daedric huh? good times bud :P

I was running up the steps to High Hrothgar, the wind was picking up, snow blowing everywhere...It looked really cold and suddenly I just lost my whole sense of immersion. With all this snow and wind and high altitude, I should be getting extremely cold. I went to check the thermometer in the hallway, 70 degrees fahrenheit.

This game is obviously broken.

i am neither 1h or 2h I am an archer with no points in any and for the dumb [censored]s that cant read its not just 1H v's 2H its steel above elven and glass and swords above axes. I have a glass sword at 56 and a glass war axe at 54 while my skyforge steel sword is 58. And no i don't have any 1h enhancements the only items I have on are smithy chest ring neck and wrists.

The lighter faster weapon is also the strongest which seems wrong or did I miss a class in 3rd grade.

Steel does not have better base values than Elven, and Elven does not have better base values than Glass.

Swords < Axes < Maces for weapon damage of the same type.

1h: sword, war axe, mace
2h: greatsword, battleaxe, warhammer

These are the facts. You didn't get a copy of the game with different values, so I'm assuming there is some info we're missing here.
