Weapons or Armor you DON'T want to return...

Post » Sat Nov 28, 2015 6:36 am

well with the new crafting system combined with the perk system the old hated 9 mm gun might even be the weapon of choice early to mid level game

in fo 3 and nv my characters usualy have this habbit of collecting one of each and every gun in the game and displaying them ( using a mod that allows display cases )

Totally agree with this. Also agree on the Dirty Clothing series. At least allow me to wash them. I don't need Abraxo Cleaner to just make explosives, you know. Well, only most of the time. ;)

I agree with the fatman being gone but the rock it launcher is a cool idea in concept but should be redesigned.

I wouldn't mind the Fatman if it wasn't a gag weapon ~eh... like the Rock-it launcher.

(The Fallout series always took nuclear warheads seriously.)

I would have liked the Fatman if it had been more like the M-29, or at least detonated like the https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Davy_Crockett_%28nuclear_device%29.

The Fatman should have been a town killer, with only one or two rounds in the game; and one well hidden.

You do realize that the thing is meant for busting single hard-targets like tanks and bunkers? It would be completely useless in-game if it was a town-killer. I mean what towns could you even shoot it at without blowing yourself up? The thing was practically useless anyway just because the ammo was so rare and so few things actually required using it, so why remove it?

Also the Rock-It Launcher is in Fallout 4 in the form of the Junk Jet. It can be seen in the E3 trailer blowing a raider's head off with a teddy bear.

Well your opinion is they did, I on the other hand would not be surprised if black isle would have added a fat man to the old games if the engine could handle it, as it fit right in with the dark satire undertone.

Why remove anything at all. More weapons and armor create diversity thus more unique builds for role playing and creating individuals.

I say add more to the game. More throwing weapons, more melee, energy and basic firearms.

The only part of any weapon related feature I would remove is the disintegration only because Bethesda has such a huge issue with ash piles.

I wouldn't want to remove anything, but perhaps a redesign in the plasma weapons would be nice. Less of the silly tubes and needle thing that were on the plasma rifle and pistol of FO3/NV. The classic Winchester P94 Plasma Rifle and Glock 86 Plasma Pistol looked more retro futuristic.

Yeah I'm nitpicking, but we're already complaining about Mr. Handy and fast Ghouls, so it's my turn. :disguise:

It's your opinion that it's my opinion, but the game script proves otherwise.

The engine could have handled it fine; it's just dumb, and so doesn't fit as a handheld weapon to shoot targets across the street.

This is the reason that the M-29 was scrapped; the crew would usually be in the fallout, and irradiate themselves.

Just because it's in the game, doesn't mean you should use it. As for its use, the point would be to eliminate a town...that would be the point, and that is the reason it was made. To wipe out what's in the blast radius.

No, because you're still just forming opinion based on said script, which btw is a script from a dead company that's not around anymore.

Actually yes, that's exactly what it means. It's in a game. It exists and I can pick it up. I should use it because it's there. Doesn't mean I will or that I even want to, but I can and that's what it's meant for.

And besides, it's a game. It isn't the M-29, it's the Fat-Man. It uses the superior SCIENCE! of the Fallout 'verse allow tiny little nuclear bombs for use with man-portable launchers because it's Fallout and they were nothing if not impractical.

That doesn't bolster your statements; and contradicts what's easily proven by all who would look.

No.

Have you never see poison potions in RPGs? You can pick it up; you can drink it; you get poisoned by it.
*There were early Star trek games that had the self destruct option, because the Enterprise had it in the show... You could use it, and it blew up the ship.

**The Fatman [as implemented] along with the nuke grenade, uncharacteristically trivialize nuclear weapons in the game... Those weapons are better suited to Shadow Warrior, or some such.

I was thinking about this earlier. I really liked the dart gun but it was overpowered in the right circumstances. I was thinking that if it's brought back then poison reservoirs could be mods craftable by the player, with different effects depending on the poison used. Obviously the more powerful ones would require high ranks in whatever perk governs the crafting. That would go some way towards balancing it, in my opinion.

Sure, but it's a weapon. Poison can be used to kill things other than you because that's the point, drinking it yourself is just you being a moron. However having a weapon that is literally completely useless because its singular purpose only kills you is pretty crap design. It's a game, it's meant to be fun. Like it or not, the Fat-Man exists because it is freaking awesome. Rule of Cool is in play here as it is in all fiction.

Not crazy about these either. That and the fact that they were constantly injecting me with stims or chems whenever I take a little damage.

Pff don't waste ya time, Gizmo is like a slab of concrete with a text declaring the old Fallouts as flawless masterpieces ya can't criticize inscribed on it. You don't have open discussions with him, you have political like debates where he already pick a side.

Veronica Belmont inadvertently made me hate her. Like, I'm sure she's a great person, but that damn Stealth Armor randomly shoving stimpaks into me and talking to me drove me nuts.

There are weapons like that; designed like that.

We will not come to an agreement. I say the Fatman should have allowed the player to eliminate a very large target [quest giving NPCs and all]; and should have been implemented like the Howitzer in Fallout 2. If it was in Fallout 2, then one can envision the PC loading it into their car, driving about 3 miles away and using it on the overland map to obliterate Gecko, or Vault City, or the Raider camp; or as a tenderizing first strike on Navarro..

I get the honest impression that this tends to mean [with many] that the other person's reasons are to be discarded in favor of the one saying this? (...or it's seen as an attitude.)

I would never say, "Well not with that attitude" to you. My reasons were given, and glossed over.

Really both of these.

And don't forget the Protoype Medic armor from Fallout 3. It was a little better because it warned us of enemies but could be annoying at times.
