Weapons for Codsworth

Post » Sat Jan 16, 2016 12:51 pm

Any way to get him to wield weapons? Gave him Grognak's Axe and the Swan's Power Fist, but he won't use either of them. Anybody got him up-gunned? How did you do it? Thanks!

He's a robot without normal human like hands pretty sure he can only use his natural attacks like Dogmeat.

I'd love to see a mod or DLC add a "Robotcs Workstation" as a crafting station for settlements where you can make upgrades to robotic companions. Currently that's just Codsworth and Curie, but I'd like to see more.

He'd look great wielding a submachine gun with that bowler hat though.

He can use Flamethrower. I'm not sure if he needs the gas tank as his ammo though.

Ideally any DLC would allow us to either upgrade Codsworth to a Synth, or allow us to upgrade his current chassis in some form or other, replacing limbs with modified versions that might allow Codsworth new options.

Replacing his buzz-saw hand with another manipulator might allow him to double the food he could collect if assigned to farm duties, or a second blaster in-place of the saw might allow him to function as if equipped with an automatic laser pistol (both lasers firing in an alternating pattern) which still leaves his flame-thrower option for close-range fights.

Alternatively, Codsworth might come down with some sort of fatal hardware malfunction, and you've got to choose between keeping him around, possibly against his will, with a variety of body-options if you decide to go that route and not just assemble a new Mr Handy body from spare components.

Gen-2 Synth bodies could be an interesting option, especially if you can assemble a butler outfit for Codsworth so he can feel like his original 'purpose' can continue.

Assaultrons (Sir, I must say, I'm not quite sure about the ... the proportions of this new chassis.) might make a better combat option with some hilarious connotations.

Siege Bots would prevent Codsworth from following you around, sadly, especially into most interior cells.

A Gen-3 Synth body might actually overload Codsworth's processors with sensations, much like it did Curie, and we could have him running around and going nuts with his ability to enjoy sensations. Picking him up from bars and/or a potential love-interest could be hilarious to deal with.

Alternatively, finding a way to assemble his remaining components, some new ones/scavenged ones from the world and quest-sites and working them into the frame of a suit of Power Armor would allow for Codsworth to assume a role similar to Strong and Danse as a big, tanky Companion, again with some hilarious options as he travels around the world with you.

I think Codsworth is perfect the way he is, of course after you give him a bowler hat.

^

This. :)

Well, he IS a Mr. Handy, not a Gutsy, as he tells you right from the start. Still, he's very useful against certain enemies, particularly insects. :P

He only uses his own weapon. There are a couple of hats you can equip him with. I have a mode that lets me apply ballistic weave to anything, so I gave him a ballistic weaved bowler hat to wear.

That would be awesome. :D

Tbh I was very surprised he couldn't be repaired or upgraded. I kept thinking I missed the option somewhere. It seemed like such a natural feature for the game.

What other hat? So far I only found the bowler hat that works. I tried to give him the lieutenant hat but it didn't work :sadvaultboy:

Would be nice to steal some Weapons from Mr. Gutsy after you killed him just to place them into Codsworth. Like giving a Settler new Clothes/Weapons. Codsworth and Mr. Gutsys Weapons :)

I'd be happy if he could use an umbrella. So he'd finally stop complaining about the weather.

I had to look it up. My mistake, he can only wear the bowler.

I think it would be cool to give him a coat of paint like the military paint and other types of paints.

Yeah, I managed to attach 2 mini guns to him, but it just makes him fly backwards really fast.

Yeah, it would be nice if dog armor was more than cosmetic for dogmeat, and if you could upgrade codsworth with mods based on your perks. Stuff like armor plating and coatings like you do to power armor. Maybe give him new weaponry, maybe a tesla field?
