weapons gamesas vs Obsidian

Post » Wed Apr 21, 2010 7:48 pm

now here's my problem i was looking at some new screen shots and i noticed that none of the gamesas plasma weapons seemed to be used. dont get me wrong i love the original fallouts but i played gamesas's first. i allways liked the energy weapons which is why i used them specificly in FO3, mostly because they had a really futuristic look to them. i noticed however that although the plasma caster seems more conventional and realistic in the end it and the new plasma pistols look like cheap super soakers covered in LED lights. i like most people will only use the strongest weapon even in cases like the miss launcher.

my point is, if all the oldschool weapons stand out like this, will the game's blending of new and old fallout designs kill it?

I hated the Bethesda energy weapons, one is a shiny metal box with a handle and the other is a bundle of tubes with green light.

I really liked the laser pistol and rifle but I hated the plasma weapons. I really don't know what to make of Obsidians weapons yet. I'll have to wait to judge until I get to pay it. The plasma pistol from the trailer looks fun though.

I hated the energy weapons in Fallout 3. The laser rifle was too weak for me to pay attention to (with the exception of the tri-beam and metal blaster), and the plasma weapons just looked stupid. Hopefully Obsidian will not only have more variety in their weapons, but also make guns that don't look like boxes with stocks.

Osidian's are more advanced. The Courier is getting some higher tech weaponry in this.

The fatman, terrible shotgun and the 44 magnum where the good ones. All the other weapons I didn't really like.
But man you have to admit the 44 magnum was beast.
The only thing I hated about the 44 magnum was the fast degrading.
Totally unrealistic degrading.

i didnt like how 90% of the weapons looked destroyed and made out of scraps. i bet 50 bucks if we had a nuke we wouldnt b makin every gun out of tin cans and we would still have a lot of normal guns left over. but the zeta dlc added a nice lookin rifle.

yea i liked the magnum, too bad it svcked ass, fat man was gross to me, lever action/licols were stupid in reloading, lever action, and looks, missile launcher looked like my 5th grade science project that shot potatoes, .32 looked like that famil dollar gun you buy that shoots pop caps, hunting rifle wasnt bad, 10mm was ok, all energies looked like they were from sum 60's movie with a 10 dollar budget, the sniper wasnt bad, the auto shotgun was alright, the double barrel (both) werent bad, melee weapons were all good. the weapons u made urself were good but unbelieveable with the items u used. (generally)

edit: if we kept our guns clean and stuff we would be fine even the chinese assault rifle looks like twigs and aluminum foil.

How'd the magnum svck? It did the same of amount of damage as the sniper, And the Lever-actions were accurate to the real wrold Henry Repeaters.

And the sniper was horrible. and i meant the animations were ugly. not the gun itself. sorry. i liked the look of them.

edit: im doing a few things at once which is why im typoing a little. so it was my fault.

the reloading looked ugly it didnt look like i was even adding bullets it just seemed really awkward. the way he held the gun was ugly to me too. nobody holds guns like that. with their hands completely wrapped around them.

edit: i can tell you dnt share my opinion. im not trying to start a war. its just an opinion.

I only like 3 guns in fallout 3.
I now like 10 guns in new vegas.

They made the plasma rifle and the plasma pistol look sweet.

I didn't notice anything different about the laser rifle.

I'm liking there choices on rifles, assault rifles, heavy weapons and I'm hoping the 44 magnum is in the game.
I want the 44 magnum to be the same model as fallout 3.
But I want it to be Blue steel(blue steel is a really cool black metal) and shiny.

'These guns are ugly!' ... You're Ugly!

Pfft.. If I had a Tin can that can shoot bullets that kill people.. I would use it.

Hunting rifle looked about right to me.. Was my favourite gun... then the lever-action rifles came.. They weren't so bad.

Show Some Love! :fallout:

Nothing good can come of this, but the Fallout 3 laser weapons didn't appeal to me. They looked like big damn boxes. I was so happy when I saw the rifle modified with a scope that I fell on my knees and cried. I haven't cried like that since I first watched The Lion King.

Obsidian's energy weapons rule, Beth's energy weapons droooooooooool. (Well I don't really know how they'll drool but this Fallout, the world of "science"!)

The guns were not that great cause they didn't use iron sights, the hunting rifle, the plasma rifles were awesome except for the lame death animations, we need more.

I like the old ones better. The gamesas ones look like metal boxes with batteries on them or a mess of tubes every freaking where. Fallout 1 and 2's were very sleak and futuristic; they were something you'd expect to see a guy shooting. It's like they tried to do Steampunk or something with the energy weapons and they just messed up.

Good news though. I saw the old plasma pistol in the new trailer, and the Plasma Rifle (now called Plasma Caster because that thing never looked like a rifle) was confirmed in a few previews. I love Obsidian.
