It's in 5.56, but the Assault Carbine is in 5mm to make them a little different.

Sawyer has already confirmed it's not in .308, he said it's not a battle rifle because it's not a large enough caliber to warrant the title. .308 is a battle rifle round, so it can't be .308

Also, confirmed now that there is no Tommy Gun in the game. Sorry dude.

Also, I heard that companions can't use modded weapons- surely this must be a mistake, since boone uses a scoped hunting rifle.

Josh Sawyer said that it wasn't in .308. But the barrel length of the M16 makes the 5.56 round hit pretty damn hard, so it's comparable.

Maybe it means they can't use guns you've modified yourself, because Boone's scoped hunting rifle is his default weapon. But then again, we did see Lily with a suppressed Assault Carbine on her back in the G4 special.... maybe it was a unique Assault Carbine and it's not modded and you really can't give them modded weapons at all... who knows.

Wow. 9 threads already. I signed off at around #5... I'm liking the way the guns are turning out, but the Energy Weapons are the ones that really have me excited. Who else is going to enjoy a fully upgraded Laser Rifle with the Laser Commander perk?

Going through the wiki again, I noticed that the LMGs strength requirement seems a bit high. Now, in the game it weighs fifteen pounds, which is less than what it seems to be based off, the M60. I know it's chambered in 5.56, and smaller, but still why does it require that much strength to be accurate? A guy I knew told me stories about a lady he rode with in Iraq who was extremely accurate with a SAW, despite the fact that she was a hundred and ten pounds with bricks in her pockets. My point is, I think it should've been a seven, maybe even a six.

Probably for game balance. If it requires an 8 as you are implying, it probably must be a very powerful gun in the game.

OK. #8 Filled up pretty quick. To carry over the discussion, we were discussing then newly confirmed fact that there will be a pool of only 3 mods available for each weapon. Some had hoped there was a larger pool of available mods and you could chose the three you wanted, but, alas, this is not the case. Something to do with limits on the number of .nifs desired. Also, there was mention of the upcoming interview Josh has tomorrow and what else we might learn weapon wise.

I think there's not much more I'm really dying to know, weapons wise. I mean I would like to know what other guns are in .45-70 and .50mg, but it's such a short wait now, I can wait and be surprised on the 19th.

There is just one thing I think deserves and answer to though. Our fellow poster, lilspankdog, has been patiently waiting to here confirmation one way or the other about the Thompson SMG being in the game. I reckon for his sake this question begs to be answered. I'd be happy with a decent hint, I'm sure we'd figure it out.

Only 3 mods for each gun? Wow thats already too much. You won't recognise the original model of the gun with those amount of mods on it lol. I think its quite a good idea giving people the ability to mod their guns into unique killing objects with our seal of death on them and the bullet. I really need to see how it works when I get the game. Is it also true what I heard that you can make your own ammunition? That would be cool :gun:

That is incorrect. The AMR uses .50 MG ammo only.

Must be an error in the game guide, or the guy who has one made a mistake when reading it.
So, I hear that .50MG is the only round with one gun.
So what gun also fires .45-70?
What's the other BB gun?

It's gotta be a Lever. Josh love him some lever-action long time. A large frame lever-action ala Winchester 1886 or Marlin 1895 is the most probable since. I suppose it could be a single shot rolling block/falling block or trap door, but I just get the feeling it's not.

@ Josh. That's not much uf a hint. Give me something really obscure and let's see if I can figure it out. Please?

-Gunny out.

Oh, and I agree. Must be another Lever. I could see a bolt, but I don't know what kind. And there aren't too many popular .45-70 semis out there, to my limited knowledge.

The DE is not a gun you'd want for survival.

The clips are small (9 in .357, 8 in .44, 7 in .50), its heavy, the grip on the larger versions is simply too large for anybody's hands, the mechanism, while clever, is a nightmare to keep operating unless you give it constant maintenance, and .50AEs are weaker than modern revolver calibers ...

... not that it matters given its an 80's gun :D

For sure. Plus, in a real world situation, you rarely need that much power, sans against actual militant forces.
To me, it's a rediculous and ugly gun. Especially the silver chromed out one. A black metal one with RIS is kind of okay, but I'll take a USP, Pro-40, or a simple Beretta anyday.
