Like the title asks, were there any weapons that you didn't expect much from, but ended up loving once you gave them a chance? For me, two revelations came in my latest playthrough (summer's giving me WAY too much free time) when I decided to not crank up my carry capacity with console commands. I know, I svck.
Obviously, I didn't have nearly as much room for heavy weapons as I did in previous playthroughs, or as much money for their ammunition, at least early on. And so, I found myself making heavy use of the Trail Carbine and 25mm Grenade APW. I'd never used either before because I could so easily obtain weapons that seemed like they were doing the same thing, but bigger. But honestly, I didn't face a single situation that these two guns and a healthy number of grenades couldn't reduce to smoldering/bloody rubble, and on a pretty tight budget. I mean, the Carbine can even equip a stock! I ended up taking Cowboy and Grunt, but it was well worth the investment.
I find myself particularly enjoying the APW. There's just something irresistibly cool about a compact grenade launcher with a detachable magazine, and for my next playthrough (already planning it), I'm hoping to make good use of the rifle to break up groups and stagger enemies so that I can run up to them and hit them with hammers and/or swords.
What about you guys? Are there any guns/lasers/what-have-you that you ended up loving, despite yourself?
PS: Do any of you PC gamers out there know of any mods that add a unique variant of the APW?
