[Req] Wear more than two rings

Post » Mon May 02, 2011 4:56 am

Hi there!
Does exist a mod or a script extender that let your char wear more than two rings? I mean, we have ten fingers...why don't we put a ring on each finger?
Thanks

I can answer the second quest: it's a D&D trope that will not die to this day.
You could wear numerous necklaces, periapts, bracers, amulets, buckles, etc; but only TWO rings!

I think 10 rings would ridiculous overkill...however 4 I think would be much better. In the regular game I'm always changing rings from CE items like Moon-and-Star and Marara's Ring to the Warlock's Ring and stuff...it would be very handy to be able to wear 4 rings...2 CE items, 2 cast-when-used items. It would just be less annoying.

I agree completely. There are a couple of rings that I like for my character to always have on for role-play reasons but multiple times during a play-session I have to remove one or both for other rings I need. Four rings would be a good number and the "constant two" would never have to come off.

You'd look like an idiot if you had rings on your thumbs...but I do believe a total of 8 (maybe six) would be perfectly realistic without being obscenely game breaking.

I'd like to see something like this as well. Are there any mods that do something like this? This doesn't sound like a difficult thing to accomplish.

I don't know if I ever see someone in real life wearing eight rings I am going to immediately think to myself they are an idiot. I probably wouldn't say anything though because you never know what someone crazy enough to wear eight rings is capable of.

Well, if those rings would allow me to breathe underwater, levitate, cast balls of fire or heal an otherwise mortal wound in a instant, I would consider wearing three on every finger... :)

If not more rings, how about the ability to have a tattoo permenantly inked onto fingers, like some 'celebrities' have had as wedding rings?
Tattoos could be scripted and carry Constant Effects, you would need to think seriously before having them done!

A personal opinion only, but this option is available in Oblivion and it makes your character way overpowered to the point you feel your actually cheating.
I mean ten rings plus your amulet spot all being used for constant effect enchantments?
In MW your basically untouchable after a certain level anyway. I'm always on the lookout for something to enhance difficulty. Not trying to make my avatar even more godlike than he will eventually become.
Each to their own I suppose. :hubbahubba:

Sure, shiki! I do it too..for example now my char is travelling with just a pair of pants, a very cool helm (but not so powerful) and an axe. My point it's more a fact of comfort...I don't mean to wear ten rings...Maybe just three or four...

I like the idea. Early on, you don't have access to many CE rings so it doesn't really break the game. If you can enchant rings to have uber CE effects, then you've probably got the dough and resources to get powerful gear and smash through the game anyways. There are plenty of ways to increase difficulty, such as NPC Enhanced (I believe is the one I'm thinking of) which gives NPCs better AI, healing potions, etc. One among many, many difficulty increasing mods.

Yep, and I think I have them all.
NPC Enhanced, MCA, Unleveled Creatures, Greater Undead, The Undead, Morrowind Advanced, Creature Pack 1.1, Creatures, and GCD setting hard.
At level 37 using only an amulet and two rings - none holding a constant effect - and armour with only the cuirass enchanted with 10% constant shield, my Redguard can smash his way through them all as long as he's careful. Two handfulls of rings would I believe make him immortal. :P

What there needs to be is a mod that makes it so you have a maximum amount of total enchantment level wearable on your character depending on stats and level. you have a limit of 2000 so that means you can have as many enchanted items as you want but the total can't go above 2000. There should be an exception for weak enchantments since with weak enchantments it doesn't really make a difference to your power. I think the stats governing this would be mainly Willpower with minor boosts from Endurance and Strength. The reasoning behind this is that you need experience, Willpower, Endurance, and Strength to weild the power contained within the items and without it you wouldn't have the ability to bring out the power.

With that in place you could have a mod that makes it so you don't have a limit to rings and amulets you wear (or a high limit) without unbalancing the game and also adding a reason for warriors to have Willpower.

I tried out a multiple rings option for about a month in Wrye Bash for Oblivion. The problems were that it felt like a cheat, since my opponents still only used two rings, and if I increased the difficulty, it became a case of "my nuclear warhead is bigger than your nuclear warhead." I'd personally rather play with more limitations and use what I've got strategically to my advantage. Which isn't to say anybody who wants more rings is cheating--because that's nonsense. This isn't about establishing fact, but opinions based on personal preference. And no one gets harmed either way, unless the person wearing a lot of rings is arrested by the Vvardenfall Fashion Police.

What mods you use probably make a big difference as well. In vanilla Morrowind, the fact is you don't really need any rings. Once you know how the game works, it's pretty easy. I'm like Shikishima, I jack the difficulty up as much as possible because no matter what I try I seem to be able to just plow through everything, so it's good having difficulty there to make it rewarding and limit me from doing as I please around level 10. That said, I HAVE found ways to make the game absurdly difficult (mods + cranked stats on MWE), in which case the extra rings could come in handy. :)

Ok...everybody here (like me) doesn't want to cheat or to make te game easier...I'm talking about comfort (I don't know if this is the right word). I mean, some rings are just useful without making the game easier...for example a Swiftswim ring or a Nighteye....
