[WIPz/RELz] Weather: All Natural, Thread 20

Post » Tue Dec 29, 2009 1:57 pm

Perhaps, I use your indoor weather filter as well for other mods support in wrye bash. I don't know if that could somehow conflict with Storms&Sounds also attempting to apply, in this case, it's weather inside sounds to Better Cities via the Storms&Sound BC patch.

i just had this happen and responded to Jamrock990 in the http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?s=&showtopic=885108&view=findpost&p=15674166.

i made the Storms & Sound - Better Cities patch and i know everything was working with 0.9.7. after i upgraded to 0.9.8, the interior sounds would disappear after a couple seconds. reinstalling the All Natural Base.esm from 0.9.7 got everything working again. i did update obse from beta 4 to beta 6 at the same time so that is something to consider.

also, it happens in vanilla interiors (which my patch doesn't touch - the original Storms & Sound hits all the vanilla interiors). i don't understand the scripts so i can't help.

in game everything works with this setup:
obse beta6
storms & sound 3.0
storms & sound - better cities patch
all natural weather 0.9.7
better cities 4.5.0

That's great to hear, I responded in the S&S thread as well but I have no 0.97 version anymore.

Any chance you, or maybe some one else could kindly upload the 0.97 version or perhaps knows somewhere it is still available for download?

It'd be great to get that functionality back, I am using the same mods and versions of those mods as you, so it is sure to fix my problem as well.

EDIT: The mirror on TESNexus to MegaUpload contains the 0.97 version!

I am getting ready to rebuild my TESIV installation. Presently, I use Natural Habitat, Vegetation, Water and Weather all by Max Tael. So I will need to exclude only natural weather to use your mod? I tried natural interiors and was getting weather effects (i.e. rain and snow) in the interior cells. Does this eliminate that? The most important question is... If I build a new interior with new meshes, what will be required to use your mod as a dependency? Also, will these effects carry over to Onra's heightmaps?
Best Regards,

@ Jamrock990: No changes were made between 0.9.7 and 0.9.8 that could affect interior weather sounds. I will check that they work for me, but you are advised to use the latest version, I'm not giving any support for older versions.

@WM7: Yes, yes, the readme has a section on this, I have no idea. I've never heard of Onra's heightmaps, but All Natural will take effect only in Cyrodill if you're in Tamriel, and SI too, if you've got it. It stays clear of affecting other provinces.

Maybe there is a new bug, or perhaps already known.

The waether changes from sunny to rainy when entering for any arena fight, but changes backwards, when leaving the arena, and entering the imprial city again.

Used all the latest All Natural files from TESNexus, used bashed patch correctly, and BC 4.5.

And I am not sure about if the fast travel weather change bug is gone.
the weather changes more than randomly though the travel time is explicitly bloew 1 hour.
(nearly every time it changes from sonewhat sunny to rainy or foggy, perhaps only then i notice)

Is there a complete list of weather types for All Natural somewhere? Does it contain their console codes? I feel like I would like the ability to change weather types when desired, but the only types I know are the vanilla codes.

`console: fw 0015e - default

things like that.

Thanks much!

@ Marshmallow: That'll be because the Arena exists in a separate worldspace, which isn't covered by All Natural ATM. I'll have a look at it when I get the time, and see if I can do anything about that.

You don't have the fixes for the fast travel bug, only Arthmoor and I do, so you will still be seeing it until we have a new release.

@ jack.g.frost: You can look at the master file in TES4Edit, it'll list all the weathers with their formIDs and everything. There isn't an actual list though. Bear in mind that the first two characters in the FormID are the mod's load number, not whatever it says in TES4Edit, unless of course you're loading the same number of mods in both.

You should also note that manually forcing the weather is not recommended because the script will reassert control after the next cell change.

To clarify: The next cell change that isn't between two exterior cells in the same worldspace, eg. walking around the wilderness. But Arthmoor is correct.

I was having the same problem as Foghorne and switching back to the 0.97 version fixed my interior weather "bugs." Not saying it is your mod, it may be some incompatibility between S&S and the 0.98 version. I am no modder so i cannot say, but I do know that switching back to 0.97 fixed my interior weather so it didn't run for 20 seconds and then change to a heavy rain sound and cut out completely. Maybe something got changed that is effecting this?

Using 0.9.8, do you still have interior weather (is there a sky visible through the windows, etc), or is that lost too? Once the sound stops, I mean.

Believe it is just the sound that stops, everything visually seemed to stay the same.

Sky visible through the windows? I don't think i've ever seen that, are you supposed to be able to see that? Only thing i've seen is the interior lighting change based on the time of the day I believe.

I remember reading the eventual goal was to be able to see npc's walking outside, see the sky, and other objects outside the window.

Is that still in the plans to implement, only reason I ask is I think that would add a lot of atmosphere to interior places, would be awesome. Great mod btw, i'll try to help how I can but I no longer have 0.98 installed, so can't give exact details.

You are supposed to be able to see the sky through the windows, that's rather a big thing with this mod. By sky, I mean that it's not just pitch black through them. If it is, you're not importing cells from the All Natural plugins you need to.

The whole NPC's walking outside, etc. was something separate, Windows To The World, that was supposed to be another expansion of Natural Interiors, but is dead AFAIK. It's pretty unreasonable to actually do that for every interior AN touches, so it's not part of the aims of this mod.

Anyway, since the sound is the only thing changing, I think that it must be S&S sending some sort of stop command for sound effects, as the sound in AN is tied to the weather, so if it were because of AN that the sound stopped, then the weather would also disappear.

I'll add taking a look at S&S to my to do list.

Just to report, using S&S 3.0 and Weather: All Natural 0.9.8 and the interior weather sounds works fine(at least for strong wind & rain & strong rain), I haven't noticed any problem.

Not sure if that's good or bad for me, you're not having any problems, but you're also adding contradiction to the whole S&S thing. :(

To all using S&S: You are all using the latest version's OBSE plugin, right?

No, I mean the S&S - OBSE esp, or whatever it's called, as opposed to one of the other options.

Ok I Just checked the size of my version against "OBSE - Storms & Sound SI.esp" and it's ok, I really did install that version.
Can't remember why I renamed it to Storms & Sound.esp though, is it in All Natural install instruction?(I can't open .doc files atm, need to go grab open office...)

No, I believe the rename is done so that it's compatible with some S&S patches. It's not really important apart from that.

the SS patches i made require the esp named Storms & Sound.esp.

i figured something out. i will post in a few minutes.

i think this from the 0.9.8 changelog has something to do with it:

- Fixed bug causing weather desync in the Imperial City when All Natural is used in conjunction with Better Cities.

with 0.9.8 all my patches work correctly. all new interiors from Better Cities, the Bank mod and Imperial Furniture had correct sounds. it is the vanilla cells in Better Cities losing the storm sounds, cells affected by AN and SS. but the sounds are not lost, the interior is behaving like clear weather. the sky in the window is clear and you can hear a slight breeze. tonight the sounds did not disappear like they did the other night after a couple seconds. it was just clear weather inside while raining outside. i now don't think they really disappeared but after a couple seconds the interior turned to clear weather and i thought the storm sounds disappeared.

with Better Cities removed AN 0.9.8 works in the IC Market with Storms & Sound.
0.9.7, Better Cities 4.5, Storm & Sound, and my patches all work together.

Looks like I'll have to download Better Cities again and take a look around. I must have missed something with the compatibility.

Can everyone else experiencing this bug confirm or deny their use of Better Cities? And does this bug occur if you use the following setup:
All Natural 0.9.8
Better Cities

WITHOUT Storms & Sounds? The way things are being described, it's not a S&S problem, but a Better Cities one.
