[WIPz/RELz] Weather: All Natural, Thread 21

Post » Wed Dec 29, 2010 3:25 pm

How does it try to infect a virus? Is it that "Congratulations, you have won" scam? Or is it more subtle?

BTW, http://games.on.net seems to be the best source for large mods nowadays, and may be a good place to upload mods to.

Well the scam is certainly annoying as hell too and I won't be going back because of that either. But my AV has tripped 3 times on a javascript virus of some sort (it was late, didn't write it down). So they can stuff it now :P

games.on.net looks like it could be useful as another mirror, I'll check them out when we're ready to go live on 0.9.9.

How big is the file? I have webspace and bandwidth that I hardly ever use, if there is *huge* demand for the file it could just serve as a mirror, though.

http://www.mediafire.com/ is a decent alternative, not sure on the file size limit though.

It'll be about 140MB or so as wrinklyninja says. Though I think he's being optimistic in assuming it won't pass 200 after SI work gets done :)

I have my own server too and can put a copy there for internal distribution if need be so that's not an issue, but I can't make that a public link for something this big.

Only just now found Psymon's nicely laid out thread of mod compilations.
http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=21945

Any idea if this conflicts with AN?

Those all look like sky replacers so as long as the mod isn't accomplishing that by scritping the weather it should be fine.

Unlikely given He Who Shall Not Be Named's ridiculous members only download policy for the latest version. I have enough to worry about without registering there and having to make the required 50 svck ups posts to get the file.

@Wrinklyninja: That bit about honesty and criticism. I agree. I'd much rather know if something isn't working right or just plain svcks than just get some random unqualified "non-endorsemant" because I violated someone's belief system :)

Yes, I did not really like having to register to download the files, but I do think Kvatch Aftermath is a great mod worthy of some All Natural goodness.

All you need to do now is register to download the files, if you didn't already know. No introduction post necessary or anything, just head straight to the DL section.

Unfortunately I had to "introduce" myself cause I had a question about the mod not working, I got many replies to a blunt introduction all of which included 3-5 :D, :) or :hehe: per post, LOL. It's supposed to be happy and peaceful on that forum?? I don't know...... I just can't seem to get a reply without a happy face haha.

If that is the case, I may just have to use Kvatch Rebuilt, which is too bad as I think KA is quite a bit better.

It only took a sec to register, probably wouldn't stick around there though. Would be awesome if you could, if not, I'll live with it... considering I use all of your mods except for Open Cities (BBC) I can't really ask for you to do any more work Oblivion wouldn't be half as good without your mods... RAEVWD really being the winner here, adds so much. This is not a svck-up post, but a hailing of great modding! (w/ a slight request :P)

I guarantee you I'd have to register incognito and probably use a proxy too because he's not real happy with me and others telling him like it is with the dirty edits in his mods. I won't go into that any further, but you should be able to easily tell that the claims are not exaggerated.

Yeah none of those sky replacers will conflict with AN - they will conflict with Natural Environments which does this very annoying thing of replacing all of those textures in diverted folders so that even if you used any of those replacers they would not be accessed. I made a plea to Wrinkly to remove all that when merging NE in and was very thankful (and still am) that that was all removed so that we can use any sky replacer.

Thanks again.

[edit] also I play with Kvatch Aftermath and AN - what is the problem. KA version 7.3 at that.

Something I'm not aware of?

You get no AN interior weather in the new interiors KA adds, that's all.

Going by what I know of the situation, KA support would probably end up being more trouble than it's worth, considering the involved parties.

@Jamrock990 - I tried out KA. Found that Kvatch was in need of some SERIOUS creative landscaping! Same with Kvatch Rising.
It just felt like the whole city was made of brick and stone. Not a tree insight from what I recall. Other than that, I'm sure it offers some great quests. I prefer Kvatch Rebuilt mostly because of the cool little patch that can be used with Main Quest Delayer. :) Although, Kvatch Rebuilt isn't boasting any major creative landscaping either. Where are the trees and flowers? Just MO
*Oh as a sidenote. Be careful with any .exe installer such as the one used for KA. If you install the files to any other path but the default, you will break the correct pathing for TES4LODGen and other mods that check the same registry key for where your Oblivion installation is located. Sorry for not staying on topic guys...

That's not a general problem of exe installers. I have used the Frans installer and installed outside the Oblivion/data folder many times without any problem. If you're correct about KA, it must be because that specific installer actively modifies your registry, which I must say is very stupid.

All Natural 0.9.9 Released!

Grab it at TES Nexus. OP to be updated ASAP (by Arthmoor when he next checks in).

A bit of a belated release notification, owing to the forum downtime, it's actually been out for a little over 12 hours.

It's very important that any and all bugs/gripes/things that don't look right are reported, as we want 1.0 to be pretty much perfect, barring SI meshes, and we need user reports to do so. If something's broken, tell us. If something works, but doesn't look right, tell us. If something is perfectly fine, but you've got a (sensible, reasonable) suggestion for improving it, tell us. I think you get the message by now.

Changelog:
- Fixed weather script compatibility with Elsweyr and Better Cities, improved fast travel weather behaviour, and fixed a few bugs in the weather script.
- Added full interior and exterior support for Oblivion Gate weather in Cyrodiil, and individually customisable weather chances for each weather type in Cyrodiil and SI.
- Tweaked a large number of weathers for better lighting, and a fixed a few anomalies in some others.
- Adjusted lighting in the Perception dreamworld so the path isn't completely obscured.
- Removed flame from Elder Council chamber.
- Chorrol interior meshes are now completed.
- Added the following meshes:
chorrol\interior\chandelierhangingrod02AN.nif
chorrol\interior\chorrolfgchorrolinterior01.nif
chorrol\interior\chorrolfgtowerinterior01.nif
chorrol\interior\chorrolfightersguild01AN.nif

Dear got these forums look weird now, gonna take a bit of getting used to... It's a bit slow ATM too, but I suspect that's because of heavy traffic.

Great! Will work on testing this out tonight! When I connected to the forums again finally I left the page thinking i reached a generic fan made site... Guess that doesn't say much for the layout. Oh well... Anyone else notice there post total lower? Mine decreased by about 225.

I just noticed I have a s***load of stars now. I liked it before when stars were obtained through great difficulty, earned by the sweat of a man's back and by the strength of his arm... OK, not quite like PotC3, but you get the idea. It's a bit cheap now though. :(

And where has my much-coveted total post count gone to? How I meant to survive, or track by 11-posts-per-day quota? (I don't actually have one, but it's the principle of the thing.)

Also, I had to re-apply my avatar, which is apparently named Crazyman, which is kinda fitting...

Not quite a case of "They changed it, now it svcks.", but it will take some tweaking by the IT team, and some getting used to by the users. The transparency looks cheap, and the old boards looked a bit dated, but they were cleaner and more functional. It needs distinction between different parts of the page, ATM the whole thread column is a mish-mashed mess.

Oh, and congratulations Beth, you managed to break external links. I shall have the most fun possible trying to remember all the places I've linked to threads and correcting them. :banghead:

@wrinklyninja - Yeah, I jokingly made a comment on the Beth Blog while the forums were down about them nerfing the star leveling system. It was a JOKE Zenimax, you didn't have to take me seriously!! Now we all look like immortals and predestined gods!! I don't deserve this sort of recognition...

Ouch, this forum closer is more painful than I ever anticipated! My guess is they are nerfing the post count leveling system. Now everyone will be a Patriarch only after only 100 posts, snubbing those who have ruined personal relationships over trying to earn such a status! Noooo!

Now we know who to put up against the wall. All those years of social outcasting, wasted. :P Mere laymen with 20 stars, floods of starred initiates. In the future, we will be able to say "God***n it, I remember the days when having a star meant something, meant you earned it. Now they are nothing, and the glory days have faded into history...". :D

In other news, I forgot to add the removal of The Ayleid Steps and Gates To Aesgaard 1 & 2 patches to the changelog. This is intentional, as the patches are no longer needed with the latest versions of those mods.

EDIT: And it appears my avatar is broken. Beth better fix that, and the driver errors I'm getting. :(

I still haven't found where they've hidden my post count. If anyone spots it, let me know. It's like playing a very un-funny version of Where's Wally? (Waldo to some).

Oh, and the gradient on each topic in the forum view is a pretty darn annoying, ugly thing. I've gotten used to hanging around on this forum for ages, but now I can hardly stand to use it. I really hope we get some different skins, and fast.

EDIT 2: New file uploaded. Only change is the addition to the readme changelog of the removal of the patches for The Ayleid Steps and GTA 1 & 2.

I started this thread, which is locked now for my inexcusable behavior :toughninja:
My ranting led to some helpful answers about our missing posts and avatars.

EDIT - So is 0.99 Prior the latest release with all the changes you mentioned above?
The Prior is throwing me off, and 9.6mb seems to be a small download size. I thought the mod was much larger.

EDIT - Actually, I think there is an issue with TESNexus. I keep getting different file sizes each time I download. *Finally got a full download. The weird thing is I had to wait while having the download option window open before downloading. It's as if the server is taking a longer time loading file in order to download it. Perhaps the site was bogged down?

What exactly do you all mean that the patches for Ayleid Steps and Gates of Asgard have been deprecated?

Meaning that they are not valid anymore and can cause problems because now they will conflict with those mods?

Meaning that the effects that they were implementing are now implemented by those mods themselves and hence they are not needed?

not clear to me

thanks

Deprecated usually means that something has become obsolete but can still be used. In this case, I think Wrinklyninja really should have said obsolete, because those patches are in fact no longer necessary and they might even be problematic to leave in place.

The one for Ayleid Steps was invalidated when the last update for that mod was done and he no longer applied any scripting to Welkynd stones.

The one for Aesgaard was invalidated when Aesgaard's main ESP got the patch added directly to it.

OP updated btw.

Yes, I meant obsolete.

The patches, as Arthmoor has said, should no longer be used.

@ Arthmoor: I think for 1.0 we should change the readme so it doesn't include that bit about perhaps not requiring WB, as ATM some people are asking why the mod won't work, because they obviously think it's optional, as opposed to perhaps not nescessary for those with minimal mod lists. I think it would be better just to avoid the whole trouble by saying that it definitely needs WB.

Hi guys, and thanks for all your wonderful work, every update is like a Christmas present :)
Anyway, I just installed v0.9.9 with OBMM, and now, after closing an Oblivion gate, my game is stuck to Oblivion weather :(. Is there something I didn't do? I didn't use a clean save, was this required? v.0.9.8 worked flawlessly...

Thanks for any help!
