[RELz/BETA] Weather: All Natural, Thread 25

I checked these in the CS with unmodified Oblivion and the north markers are correct. So I'll try and remember to go check one of these places to see if the sun is in the right spot or not.


I checked the markers in the CS too, and they do seem correct...
To be sure I went to Jerall View, and I confirm the sun is raising in the north in my game.
I've also checked in tes4edit, and only UOP and OOO add north markers and the one in Jerall View is not modified.


Just wanted to point out a liitle problem I encounter using the last version.
Now at level 30 I started the main quest, everytime I come close to a oblivion gate the sky become red and it start storming and raining! and this special weather is prolonged for several hundred of feets; now if i enter an interior (house, cave, ...) and go out or open a letter/book in my inventory and close it, the weather become normal (no rain, no storm, no red sky)!


As I was already doing some "sun check" I also did some oblivion gate checks. ^^
I tried to open a book during an OB weather (within and outside the gate range) and I wasn't able to reproduce what you describe. Is there something else to do?
Concerning the change of weather when entering and exiting an interior, I believe it's something that cannot be modified. It's linked to the weather transition that cannot be tracked between a change of worlspace or exterior/interior. So if the weather is in transition, you'll have either the previous or the target weather after entering and exiting an interior.

I wasn't able to reproduce what you describe.
Concerning the change of weather when entering and exiting an interior, I believe it's something that cannot be modified.

Every people can reproduce or not reproduce anything. A thread like this is all about this, to collect all observed oddities.
Others people (I just read last TESNexus messages) reported the same problem.
Why weather start (heavily) raining while approaching an Oblivion gate?
Wheater changes when entering and exiting an interiors was all time the main work of this mod (at least what I think).

In vanilla oblivion weather can change on transitions, this is something all natural fixes. It will remember the weather you had when changing zones and keep it. The weather change when coming close to oblivion gate is vanilla weather behaviour and is not changed by all natural. You are supposed to get oblivion weather when coming close to a gate.

Ahh! I come back and there's a fair few weather bugs reported. I've been a bit busy lately, so haven't had a chance to continue my patching. I do have another fix pack release in the works, but even before I can get on to the reported stuff, I've got to fix the snow/rain area transitions because they are horribly broken. I'll get it done when I can, hopefully in the next week. :)

For the vanilla weather I concur, but with the All Natural (0.9.9.5) I've no weather change at all between a sunny day to a rainy day, right now my weather is only shifting between rain and the "gate" weather. Sometimes even indoors. :blink:

I've no clue or idea what's wrong and here is my LO. Any suggestions? :shrug:

Have you got the fix pack installed, and are you using OBSEv18? If yes to both, it could be that what you're experiencing is the broken rain area transition stuff, so just stay outside until the weather changes away from a rainy weather, and it should work again.

Have you got the fix pack installed, and are you using OBSEv18? If yes to both, it could be that what you're experiencing is the broken rain area transition stuff, so just stay outside until the weather changes away from a rainy weather, and it should work again.

I've obse0018, but no fix pack installed. I can't see if that can make a difference, because right now I've only two weather types just rain or gate weather. That's all I got. :(



edit - just found the fix and try that

I checked the markers in the CS too, and they do seem correct...
To be sure I went to Jerall View, and I confirm the sun is raising in the north in my game.
I've also checked in tes4edit, and only UOP and OOO add north markers and the one in Jerall View is not modified.


Well that's certainly annoying. I haven't had a chance yet to poke around at things but something is obviously not right. A quick and easy way to see if it's AN causing it would be to deactivate it, then make a quickie mod to set the inn's "behaves as exterior" flag and give the cell a vanilla climate, like DefaultClear or something, then go back there to see which direction the sun rises in.

Just did that. And sun is still raising in the north. At least it's now clear that this is not due to AN. ^^

I like the darker nights function of the mod. I enjoy the luminance normalization better than vanilla, but I do want some blue appearance to it. I'd really like a hint of tint (obnoxious rhyme intended). Would it be easy implement a normalize multiplier, allowing for a user configurable normalization amount, rather than the current boolean system? If so, would you mind considering to implement this feature in one of your future versions?

Aside from that, I must say this mod is far more stable now that I've installed 0.9.9.5 and the kvatch fix. Interior and exterior cell changes seem to operate more effectively, and I have yet to see a random weather change since the update. Keep up the good work :).


Hmm, I suppose that I could have a 'degree of normalization' setting, with values between 0 and 1 (none and full) instead of the boolean. I'll have a look at the night values and try to figure out something that can do that. ATM it just takes the average of the rgb values and sets that for all three colour channels, but it looks like I would have to weight that somehow.

Now at level 30 I started the main quest, everytime I come close to a oblivion gate the sky become red and it start storming and raining! and this special weather is prolonged for several hundred of feets; now if i enter an interior (house, cave, ...) and go out or open a letter/book in my inventory and close it, the weather become normal (no rain, no storm, no red sky)!


Up to the semicolon, this is purely normal behaviour. If you enter an interior, the weather should stay stormy (though I haven't tested it with caves, it should simply be a case of nothing happening until you come out, upon which you should get the Gate weather again. As for the inventory change of weather, that sounds seriously out of whack. Are you sure you've got AN installed correctly (with OBSE v18), and have the fix pack installed? The inventory thing is something I've only heard happening with Natural Weather...

Heh, well, relieving yet doubly annoying at the same time. I wonder if it has something to do with the directional lighting values? What happens in your test mod if you change those all to 0,0,0 with no rotation values?

AN adds actual rain to the red Oblivion weather when it happens in Tamriel. So that's normal.

Transitioning to that weather when approaching a gate is standard vanilla practice, which AN is adapdting to. Nothing new here.

The part where you go into an interior and end up with something not Oblivion weather should be normal as once the transition begins, it's pick one or the other. The game will not allow us to continue the transition where it left off, and I don't think OBSE yet has this ability.

Wrinklyninja can feel free to tell me if I'm full of it since I can barely make sense of the weather script these days :P

Hmm... directional lightning values are greyed out when the "behave like exterior'" flag is checked.
I guess I could uncheck the flag, modify the values, and then reactivate it.

It would be great if someone could check the sunrise/sunset in Jerall View Inn. If I'm the only one encountering this issue, there's no need to post any further in the AN thread. ^^

Edit: After some time passed in the CS, I'm beginning to think that the north marker is totally unrelated to sun's orientation.
It's just something that allow you to create an interior without having to care about the orientation of the cell in regard to the orientation of the exterior door.
This would mean that in order to correct this small issue, the orientation of all objects in concerned interior cells would need to be modified...
Unless I missed an option in the CS, it seems a lot of work for something like this. And it would also greatly impact the compatibility of AN with other mods adding something in any interior cell.

Nope, that sounds about right. And that makes two of us. :P

EDIT: As per mike12982's request, I've updated the normalisation setting in Night Luminance to be a decimal rather than a boolean, so 0 is still no normalisation, and 1 is still totally normalised, but you can now choose the degree of normalisation in the same way as you can choose the darker nights, by setting NormalizeLuminance to a value between 0 and 1. :)

Now I've both obse0018 and the fix pack installed as you have already suggested, but since you didn't tell me exactly how long I must stay outdoors.
I don't know really what to do next maybe the current oblivion.ini and the LO can give you some insights of what's wrong.

I didn't say how long you have to wait because I don't know. It can't be > 17 hours though, unless there's a bug in the timing too, so just wait 18 hours while outside, and the weather will have changed.

As for your LO, that needs BOSSing.

Because a good load order is commonly needed for stuff to work properly, and not just a requirement of overhauls...

I see, but the last time I do that with http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=31766 something has definitely changed of my LO, because when I was in Wrye Bash and it says that 115 plugins have been redated as soon I've started Wrye Bash.
I don't understand why this has happen, it's probably I used the http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=31766 utility instead of the original BOSS. :unsure:

Because Bash only redates your plugins after they've been altered by something else (in this case, BOSS) if you've got Lock Times active.

does that change anything with the bash patch or game, Is it something i need to worry about? I'm just wondering because I ended up running boss with lock times just to double check things and I noticed the same thing pop up. Do I need to remake my bash patch?

That's a common transparency bug that we can't do anything about. It's caused by your video card drivers.

I'm using an ATI 4870. Don't you have an ATI card as well, Arthmoor? If so, do you get the issue? And if not, what drivers do you use?

I see stuff like that all the time, and yes I have a 4870. I don't recall which version of the driver I have but that sort of transparency stuff happens a lot with the houses that have thatch roofing. The blood spatters on the chapel windows are the same problem.

The transparency limitation happens on both ATI and nVidia. I've used both brands, and both have the issue. I'm pretty sure it's an actual engine limitation. Specifically, you can't see through two transparent objects. Although, very bizarelly, at seemingly random times (maybe 1 out of 100) I am able to properly see both transparent textures correctly...this leads me to believe it's more of an engine bug than limitation.

Anyway, it's basically not solvable I don't think...if it really annoys you (it would me!), your best bet is to open up the CS and delete the vines/cobwebs/ect that are by the transparent windows. I had to do that in a couple places for All Natural.esp.
