The meshes in your meshes\allnatural\architecture\settlements folder have screwed up normals. Stuff is dropping through the floors and elsewhere.
Looks like a bit of work.

Can anyone confirm? I haven't ever come across this problem myself.

All of them or just some of the settlement meshes? It's been awhile since I ventured to the Isles so I haven't had occasion to drop stuff on the floor while there.

To my knowledge just the settlement meshes. Check in blender. it will be glaringly obvious.

Just realised I have been running an old version (275) of Wyre Bash for months alongside this, and have also completely forgotten to download newer versions of this. :facepalm: Hopefully that will partially explain the frequent crashes I've been experiencing.

The meshes in your meshes\allnatural\architecture\settlements folder have screwed up normals. Stuff is dropping through the floors and elsewhere.

Have I mentioned how exceedingly annoying it is to have the tool randomly flip normals and cause other bizarre errors such as neon vertex colors for no apparent reason? I should mention that sometime because it is quite enraging...calming down now...I'll check out the meshes, if flipped normals are the problem, nifscope will easily detect the problem visually similar to that Blender screenshot.

I recall having this problem for one of the Mania meshes I was working on, so I deleted it and I still got the problem in Vanilla...that really confused me. Anyway.

To my knowledge just the settlement meshes. Check in blender. it will be glaringly obvious.

Probably something Brumbek will need to address then. I've tried following a few different procedures for fixing that very problem but Blender confounds me to the point where trying to use it makes me want to throw my computer off a cliff. Good thing there aren't any cliffs near here.

I was doing a quest for Vampire Hunting - Order Of The Virtuous Blood v1.9.5, which required me to go to J'Ghasta's house. Problem was, it wasn't marked on the local map. In its place, was Ivan Beauvais's house. Additionally, the entrance to the secret basemant was no longer present.

I looked at all changes in TES4Edit to see if I could spot the mod that was making the change - and could find nothing and could find no reference to any NPC called Ivan Beauvais.

I used FormID to look at the floor where I expected the entrance to the basemant to be and noticed that it seems to one of the AN ones. Is it possible that AN is "hiding" the entrance to the basemant or have I got it wrong? Still can't figure out the house name change.

@Surazal: It's not AN making the change there. Also looked at that vampire hunter mod, it doesn't touch that cell at all. You're going to have to find the source of this "Ivan Beauvais" change in order to pin it down because chances are that mod is what did the damage.

I was referring to Brumbek's comment about the neon vertex colours (I call them psychedelic ). You can't fix flipped normals on a collision mesh in Nifskope - you have to use Blender or Max. You can flip the normals on a regular mesh (one with NiTriStrips or NiTriShapes), but that's not the issue here. You're probably right about Nifskope not knowing which way is out versus in

So you are... Try setting ANVars.BaseArraysBuilt and ANVars.SIBasArraysBuilt to 0 and then saving and reloading. It looks like those arrays aren't filled for some reason.

I don't follow your entire post, but just so you know All Natural's mesh edits do not touch the collision meshes at all. We edit geometry to add new windows but we don't touch the collision stuff. This is why the collision issues don't make sense to me. To repeat, all meshes in All Natural are using the vanilla collision data, and have been run through PyFFI.

Pretty much same process, but Koniption thought it might fix the vertex colours too. I haven't tried it yet - I'd have to dig up the model that was having trouble. It was one of the vanilla statues that I was shrinking. Here's Koniption's quote:

For all my models, I find it is best to open up a newly exported model that is showing the texture, in NIfksope. Then I "Update All Tangent Spaces" first (this updates the tangent spaces for all NitriStrips/Shapes in that nif, realigning the vertex colors, too), then I right click on each NiTriStrip/Shape and go to "Mesh" -> "Face Normals"..then "Mesh" -> "Smooth Normals" at 180 degrees instead of the default 60 degrees. I then "Update All Tangent Spaces" again. This usually makes a marked improvement on the mesh and how the texture and vertex coloring appear on it. Also, by "Smoothing" the mesh, when you run PYFFI nif optimizer script, the nif will be even further optimized, more than if you hadn't smoothed it in Nifskope - so that's an added bonus!

I found that the NIF exporter for Max actually modified the values of the vertex colours in each vertex, so I'd be surprised if Nifskope could do anything with that. I didn't know how to do the vertex colours in Max so I copied the vertex colours from the previous version of the mesh - that worked but it confused Nifskope a bit because the original mesh was from an older version of Nifskope

The problem that Metallicow is referring to is flipped normals on the collision mesh. I have found that Max (and Blender actually) can mess around with the collision mesh even though you're not touching it. I usually delete the original collision mesh, make my changes, export the model and if the old collision mesh will still fit, I copy the old collision mesh from the previous version of the model into the new version.

If the normals have been flipped already, you can flip them in Blender or Max. Nifskope can't flip the normals on a collision mesh. I've found this doesn't always work so I will often create a new collision mesh instead.

A bit of an update for you: I've been running around in Tamriel and have had no issues. I really like the new darkness settings. I was running around muttering to myself "Who turned out the lights?" when it was overcast or there were no moons. But when the moons are visible, it's bright enough to travel the roads without a torch. I'm really happy with this, personally I haven't had any sudden weather transitions or weird fog. So only SI is a problem, as wrinklyninja is aware of.
