[RELz] Weather: All Natural, Thread 31

I haven't had any sudden weather transitions or weird fog.

Just wondering if I am having weird fog:

Currently in Bruma, there is what appears to be "fog" weather". I cannot look further than say 50 - 60 metres in game which is looking fine. But I can see the silhouettes of distant mountains and trees that are MUCH further away. I'm wondering if this is a limitation of the engine or some other issue? This issue I'm having with AN fog set to zero (disabled).

Then I wanted to see how things look with AN fog enabled if the silhouettes disappear. Ideally everything should be swallowed by fog beyond the 50 - 60 meters. But what happened was somewhat funny:

First of all, by trial and error, it was not the foggy weather .ini value I needed to fiddle with but the "cloudy" weather. OK. Then the shocker: with a value of 0.50 I could barely see 15 meters ahead. A value of 0.3 would barely let me see the person I was talking to! So really extreme thickness of fog (or clouds). :huh: Even this I could accept, but the issue of distant mountain silhouettes visible persisted which did not feel right...

So I guess my question is do I have a AN problem or not? I have the AN Scripts.esp fix installed. I have set both uGrids to 15. I can post some screenshots if you like.

The shilhouettes are just something that the game does. Even if you manage to get the fog colour to exactly match the sky color in the part of the sky the object is (which is different for each object), there is still the issue of the colour only being fully applied if the object is far enough away. I think the problem is because Oblivion's fog doesn't obscure the sky, or something like that (eg. IRL everything turns to the colour of the fog, but in Oblivion, objects are still clearly a different colour from the sky behind them.)

My last three saves would load, then crash a second later (like once scripts kicked in). Narrowed it down to AN, and the saves load fine now without it.

Weird. All of a sudden it seems like the init script doesn't like doing "let ANVars.ClearList[0] := ANVars.vanilla[0]" even though both arrays are present and vanilla[0] is filled (or should be).
All I can say is to try setting ANVars.BaseArraysBuilt to 0 and then saving and reloading. That should re-populate the arrays and stop the problem occurring.

Yep, that fixed it! Didn't even have to save & reload, actually - as long as I opened the console before the init script ran, resetting the variable to 0 was enough. I did make a new save & reload though, and the new save was also stable. Wahoo! :celebration:

I'm glad. I do wonder why this is happening for some people all of a sudden though - all I can think of is that it's a leftover from when OBSE v19 and 19a had that array bug. :shrug:

I missed that script fix, kudos on the repost.

Not to derail your thread or anything, but I recall someone was working on a patch to make AN Real Lights compatible with the Respawning Welkynd Stones mod. I cant recall who it was, or what the status is. Any idea who/what/where?

Played for years without Weather mods, tried AN and I really like it, great job all. Like the RL component as well, but I burn through a lot of Welkynd Stones, so really looking forward to that compatibility.

*ed* It's PacificMorrowind, listed on his miscellany page at the nexus, no status though.

Picking this up again, I recently downloaded that mod, and it looks pretty good. I'll see about making a patch if PM doesn't (I shall PM PM first :P).

I've been running around SI today trying to find and fix the bugs andalaybay reported a while back, but so far I haven't come across anything (though I have seen a couple of things that work, but not quite the way I want them to). I haven't got to New Sheoth yet though, which is apparently where most if not all of the bugs are anyway.

First of all, looks like you need to run BOSS to get a better load order than the current. AN files normally load a lot higher, and some others look very strange aswell.
Also, I don't see any Immersive Interiors in the loadlist (or Rens interior mod for that matter). You need one of those to be able to see the outside landscape through the windows

HrmnsOblivionScriptOptimizationv1.0.esp - Drop this. It's been proven to offer little to no improvement and is generally just wasting space.

As for the rest, definitely need to use BOSS. The most glaring error I see there is the USIP is loading before the UOP, which is all sorts of bad.

You're still missing a bashed patch in the loadorder, fix that and it should work. Immersive Interiors does not (yet) work on EVERY window however, as it's a work in progress.

Think the best would be if you rightclick the file list in Wrye Bash and choose List Mods, copy/paste the loadorder from there instead so we can see it properly. Much easier for you to post it that way too anyway

Hmm, only the All Natural - Indoor Weather Filter For Mods.esp is merged into the bashed patch and deactivated? I think you might need to rebuild the bashed patch and merge some more things into it.

The meshes in your meshes\allnatural\architecture\settlements folder have screwed up normals. Stuff is dropping through the floors and elsewhere.
Looks like a bit of work.

Finally looked in to this. Now I remember I actually did edit the collision on the settlements because the vanilla collision wasn't correct on the doors and a few other spots...however, turns out when Max imports the collision, every other normal is flipped. I wonder if Blender would import properly. If you have the time, could you import and of the four vanilla or USIP settlement interior meshes into Blender and see?

Now I just need to figure out how to fix this...I refuse to just use the vanilla collision because it's sloppy. I think I can fix it by flipping the normals back by hand, but that is really annoying...anyway, it seems here's another area that NifTools can't quite import right, Bethesda maybe used some bizarre tool to create it in the first place, so I don't blame NifTools.

Shivering Isles Settlements collision errors fixed. http://www.4shared.com/file/8yrzYd51/AN-SI-SettlementMeshesFix.html.

I even learned a few things about collision as I fixed stuff, cool. Anyway, tested these and they all work fine now. Thanks metallicow for the report.

I have the AN INI (in the INI folder) set to 80% darker nights (0.2), and it still seems way too light outside. I also noticed very abrupt weather changes as well; however, I had not set Enhanced Transitions and all that. I have not tested outside since making those INI changes, but the not-so-dark nights are my biggest concern. One more thing, how could I go about making the starting cell less bright? The windows is covered by some black mesh, but the daylight is still streaming through...
