Weather decided by date?

Post » Sun May 05, 2013 3:40 pm

Hey all. Does the games weather change depending on what mont it is? i.e is there a 'winter' where is snows more? Summer where there is less rain?

It may seem like an odd question, but its relevant to a currenlt roleplay i'm doing. My journal date doesn't match up with the actual ingame date, as I occasionally use days to set up future planned events.

There are no full seasons. There is no winter, summer, spring, and fall. I'm not sure if different months change the weather at all, it wouldn't surprise me if they do, though. I've noticed at some points it'll rain day after day after day, for instance, but I've never tried to systematically compare this to months in the game.

Different counties feature different types of weather, though. I'm not an expert, but I know in one county (or area, perhaps) there will be a greater chance of rain or sun or whatever. I read that somewhere, probably UESP.

 arrgh...this makes me so jealous.

I remember being newish to TES4, and finding some red trees somewhere near the Imperial City. I don't know if you have seasons up where you live, mirocu, but down here leaves on trees turn red, gold, brown before they fall off. I saw these red trees and I got all excited because I assumed they were red because autumn is beginning, and eventually Cyrodiil would be in winter and spring and summer.

But nope, doesn't happen. :sadvaultboy:

Sure have seasons, Renee, and I actually thought the same thing when I saw those red trees. It′s sorta like this to me: spring is in Anvil county, summer is in the Heartlands, winter in the Jeralls of course and in between there you have fall. All seasons at once! :P :twirl:

That's not seasons, that's you pretending there are seasons.

And I was asking if you have seasons up where you live? Do leaves fall off any trees? Or do you just have evergreens (pines, firs, etc.) up there?

Unless you're using mods, the weather is basically random. The best weather mod is http://oblivion.nexusmods.com/mods/18305, and it generates the weather chance by a variety of things including season and location. So winter in the Jeralls is not guaranteed to snow, but pretty likely. Also in my game the leaves are http://oblivion.nexusmods.com/mods/36561 around Chorrol :D
