Weather Issues - Constant Rainy DaysNights

Post » Tue May 08, 2012 5:14 pm

I'm currently using Weather - All Natural v.1.33 and Storms & Sounds v.3.0. I don't remember how many hours of actual game time since I installed these mods, but I know it has been a good amount of time. The problem I seem to be having is this: Since as long as I can remember, every day has been cloudy and rainy. I'm using all default settings for WAN (i.e., I haven't touched the .ini). I don't know if this weather pattern is normal for the particular time of year i'm in. I've traveled all over the map and I still get the same weather, so something tells me there could very well be a problem. I have used these two mods together in the past and the weather patterns seemed very normal. Does this situation sound familiar to anyone?

Do you use Streamline? There is a line that you have to change in it's ini file.

set SLv.WeatherUnsticker to 0 ( It is set to 1 by default, change it to 0)

Being that you are using WAN, this should be changed.

Hope that helps.

I haven't used Streamline yet this time around. I have in the past with no problems though.

It could just be a run of bad luck. I always have to edit All Natural's .ini, as the default length of any given weather is quite long (8 or 10 hours, I think?). This seems like it takes forever, especially if you have slowed down the in-game time speed. Occasionally the weather will just switch between stormy and rainy, giving you crappy weather for several days. The chance of poor weather also increases depending on where you are. Leyawiin, for example gets a lot of rain.

Here is what I have in my .ini, it seems to work pretty well:
		 set ANVars.ClearLength to 12 ; Average duration of a clear weather. (12) set ANVars.CloudyLength to 7 ; Average duration of a cloudy weather. (7) set ANVars.OvercastLength to 5 ; Average duration of a overcast weather. (7) set ANVars.FogLength to 2 ; Average duration of a foggy weather. (7) set ANVars.RainLength to 4 ; Average duration of a rainy weather. (5) set ANVars.StormLength to 2 ; Average duration of a stormy weather. (5) set ANVars.SnowLength to 9 ; Average duration of a snowy weather. (9)

Edit: ok so the average length isn't quite as bad as I remembered, but it sure feels like it after a couple of bad days. And really, have you ever seen a fog that lasted 7 hours in the middle of a forest?

I have my timescale set to the next fastest from real time (I think). No matter where I go, it's raining. Perhaps it is just a normal cycle and between that and the timescale change, a sunny day just hasn't come up yet. Overall, what do those .ini tweaks do to the default weather? I may still go ahead and use them after a little more time in-game. I was just curious.

That was taken from the All Natural.ini, so it will only take effect if you have that mod active. The mod's default numbers are on the right.. The numbers represent the average number of in-game hours that pass for a specific weather, although it isn't exact, as each weather's length is randomized. If your timescale is very slow, then weather will definitely last quite a long time.

Edit: A good way to check for problems would be to travel to Cloudpeak Monastery. If you get rain way up there, something is definitely wrong.

Man, I remember having this. I wanted to scream. I think it was just a run of bad luck because I had it for a (REAL TIME) week and then never again and I don't think I changed any mods.

I changed my All Natural.ini to match the one belonging to Snargelfargen's .ini and it worked great. I finally get clear days. I'm glad it wasn't a technical issue. My default settings were a bit different than those, but no matter. It all worked. Thanks Snargel!
