Right, but we really don't know how long it would take for that to happen. For all we know every continent could end up like the Dust Bowl of the 1930's.

One thought. With people living in vaults for so many years, how much knowledge of things like farming would be retained?

I don't either, lol. Just ignore that. I still had my head wrapped around what could happen after a real nuclear war.
A lot of the vaults had hydroponics, so, farming wouldn't be a totally lost art. That, and the vault planners would be aware folks may be in there a while, so, books and such would be important as well. (though I have never seen a library in a vault..... at least, not one with books......)
That makes sense. I don't recall seeing libraries either, but I suppose they would have to plan for it.
