Weather?

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 2:14 am

Are there going to be weather effects in Brink? I saw a fairly clear sky in the SMART button preview and I saw ominous clouds in the Container City previews so I was wondering if precipitaion is going to fall from the sky. One level could be completly changed simply by having it be a rainy night instead of a cloudless day.

that would be cool. having random weather effects, and maybe random times like noon, midnight, dawn and dusk.

it would be cool if it was raining tho...imagine the container city level with water flooding alot of the parts of the map that were in a bit of a bowl shape

I hope it will have a rain map, you have the surfaces all slippery on the rooftops, and so many "ninjas" slipping of to their watery grave" . Plus there will be no thermal scopes like MW2 so it will actually take skill to see someone in the night and/or rain.

Maybe like randomly generated matches, 70% chance clear, 10% snow 20% rain, 75% day 25% night?

They have maps that take place during day, night, dusk, etc, but they are not real-time transitions, so you won't play a map in day time, and end it at night time.

Each mission occupies a very specific point on a set chronology for the first week (I think?) of the Ark civil war. It doesn't really make sense, from a storytelling standpoint, to vary the weather or time of day on a particular mission.

That could be problematic for the lights if they "bruise in a strong wind", hurricane force winds will blow them to their "watery deaths."

As long as there really are no thermal scopes, this would be an awesome map.

how bout a hail map with lots of places with overhangs. hail does minor damage and so you have to sprint from cover to cover.

that wont work out as much for the heavies. also peopole would be spending so much time trying to avoid the hail that they wouldnt pay attention to the objectives. some people might just stay in the same house the whole time

I will be satisfied with one snow map, and one hard rainfall map, either makes things that much more Epic.

I'm also wondering if you could have fog or smoke. If the war is bad enough, something going to end up burning.

I doubt there will be much weather changes, if any. The story takes place over a couple days, its not a never-ending battle.

It's been confirmed that there are night and day missions, but I doubt there's any weather ones. Sorry to crush you.

I'd love a dark, rainy map. I've always liked a dash of stealth in my games, even if it is just a silenced gun or something. A dark, rainy map in a place like Container City would be completely epic.

The random weather would tie in more to a freeplay mode.

Does such a mode exist? Even in multiplayer, each map is in fact part of the story.
