Web Based Auction House....Thoughts?

Post » Thu Mar 27, 2014 9:58 am

Not sure if anyone has posted this in the past, but here is the web based AH for ESO:

http://www.esoah.com

I have mixed feelings about this. Could be good to reach a larger market, but goes against what ZOS has been aiming for. What are your thoughts?

Kinda goes against the design of the game though?

Diablo 3?

Just saying...

Also look interesting, wonder if the search functions will be satisfactory.

All modern MMOs have an actionhouse. ZOS just wants to pull a swtor and be original with features that already work as intended in other MMOs and really don't need "improvement".

Cool for ppl that want to use it i guess, but i plan to be pretty much account sufficient. If i or a mule don't make it and its isn't dropped, i'm not gonna bother much with it.

Just saying what? That there won't be third party sites that sell game gold and gear?

Most everyone else lives in the real world. Just saying.

No.

Keep it in game, at least on official sites.

Sure other games do it, but other games also crash & burn. Feed TES players and serious MMOers and ESO can ignore the hoi polloi who have helped destroy other games.

It's a decent platform to advertise your products. However, it will only gain traction if lots of people use it.

Good. I hope that more of these start up and that they are a huge success. Maybe then ZOS will realize their mistake in screwing over their crafters and change this system.

ZOS have already said the best items will be crafted by those who spend skills on crafting - why the upset?

I hope they plan on rebranding. It looks like one of those fraud business sites.

What's the point in making top end gear if you have to jump through a million hoops to sell it? It's called an economy. This is not a solo player game.

no its horrible

first of all, the game right now is not full screen and it conflicts when we try to "minimize it" they will give a fix for it, but I would never join a website for trade! Surely many will create websites for trading, but not my thing...

Seems to me that the C.O.D has it's own issues, and that there is an outlandish fee for using it. I'll try to dig up some info on that and get back to you.

EDIT: Rumor has it that there is a 10% C.O.D fee + an additional 10% per item. And maybe a % fee based on item value. I can't seem to find anything official atm.

lol. Good luck selling those crafted items through ESOs archaic trade system. Context is king.

Simple - just find the best crafters and order/buy from them?

Why should the game economy be separated from the game? Expecting it on an online auction site is just lazy, why not play the game as designed instead of being a slacktard?

Yes I agree re the design of the game.

I'm looking forward to an MMO for once without a centralised Auction system. I think it will be interesting and liberating.

Anything hosted outside the game is going to be hackable by a whole lot more riff raff. In-game AH if we had one would be limited to subbers.

um, I've done it before plenty of times. Not all of us started playing when WoW came out. AHs weren't in earlier MMOs

And what do you need ample coin for, if there is no centralised Auction to readily spent it upon?

You might find that without such a centralised system you're set free from the tyranny of your treasury.

Exactly. Players shouldn't have to go outside of a game's systems to have the access to other players that they desire.

Unfortunately, ZOS decided to go with a system that was abandoned by the AAA developers years ago when they realized how inefficient it was and now the players have to go around ZOS to get the job done. Maybe one day ZOS will actually enter the 21st century, or someone will make a UI mod that handles it for us, but until then sites like this one will have to do.

This system is way more personal, and you can join like 5 guilds, if you can get or sell what you want from those... I don't think an AH would help you. Or you'd be the one pulling the rug out from underneath the economy, either way.

Just join 5 trade guilds.
