Wedding Ring

Post » Tue Dec 08, 2015 2:30 am

Noticed it in one of F4 E3 videos and it got me thinking.

What are you gonna do with it?

Throw it away because it's just garbage in your inventory?

Keep it because you're loyal to your wife/husband or something?

What we know so far that the player is the sole survivor which means your wife/husband is either dead or somehow left before the player.

My first character will keep it on in memory of his (so far as he knows) dead wife.

I'll wear it until I walk into the local Bars. Then its time to mingle. And a Dead Spouse isnt the best wingman. ;)

I'm looking forward to the spouse yelling at you if you throw away your wedding ring when you meet up with them halfway through the main quest (after thinking that they're dead for the first portion of the game).

Does it have weight?

Can I use something useful in it's item slot?

If not, I might keep it.

My real life policy is never to wear rings. They're a haven for bacteria, and when you work with your hands a lot, can cause gloving injuries (DO NOT look that up) or make the difference between just breaking your finger and losing it. If you have to 'wear' a ring, do it on a chain, but make sure the chain can be broken relatively easily, because it can be used to choke you. Come to think of it, that advice is even more important in the post-apocalypse. So I suppose I'd keep the ring in my character's pack, but not use it.

I have a feeling it will be useful down the line, because it will have some kind of unique 'enchantment' effect, or it will have some kind of quest value.

Depends on the character, think the first will throw it away.

On a side note this marks the first entrance of rings / amulets to fallout. most of us are familiar with it from TES but how can it be used in Fallout? Rings that unfold into lockpicks? Amulets with nuclear batteries the project an energy force fields (although at that point you may as well say a wizard radiation did it)?

Selling it if it's worth anything. Hanging onto it (but not wearing it) if it's worthless.

I doubt it, pure costmetics, maaaybe used as part of a quest, or a way to show faction support without wearing a whole armor or some such.

If we know our spouse is dead when we comet of the vault, I will remove it but keep it. If we are not sure if she is alive, I will wear it, but might remove it around certain NPCs to see if it opens any different dialog options.

In my role-play idea My character, Mara was forced to Marry him because she got pregnant. She didn't like him at all, it was just an adventure a bad day. So she would throw the ring in a river tied to a big rock. I am thinking if maybe she is bisixual and that made her hating him more because having to pretend being perfect 100% straight wife 1950s style

Doubt it.

I'm sure Bethesda added that tem just to see how players would do with it. It's an important item in real life but in video game it's just a useless item.

I still wonder if it'll double as a Fallout version of Skyrims Amulet of (Mara?) but in reverse.

Ie, when equipped it tells NPCs you don't want a romance - while unequipped would signify you as "available."

I'll probably keep it on until I get desperate for caps, which will be immediately.

They said that even if you are playing as (for example a male) you could still adjust the appearance of your wife, right?

Make her as ugly as you can! Then you will not have to bother about the ring! It is more like.. "Bullet dodged" hehe.

It depends on how the story goes, if I see my wife dead in the vault. I'll leave the ring there. If not I'll keep it till her status is confirmed.

Keep it in my stash, but I'll take it off as soon as I can.

That part of me is dead, but I'll never sell it.
