It's a week after launch and all the game breaking bugs are

i am really getting so angry right now

i wait since saturday i can play my game again because after 28 hours i got the dlc save game bug and the game is [censored]. i know, if the patch doesnt fix it i will never start to play that game again. and if the patch is not released until friday i will give the game back to the shop and never buy a game of these publishers again. i loved fallout but this is frustrating! and there are no other news than " we are working on it you will have it soon"

WTF what is soon please? pc has it since a while, xbox and ps users even pay more for that game so arent we worth to get a patch now too? dont release such a buggy game in the future, i rather wait for a game i can play than having a broken one released in time...

Well the good news is I lost my job last month and was squandering away the past week scouring the wasteland. Now I HAVE to refocus and get a job. Thanks Bethesda, you've inspired me to pull myself up by my boot straps! USA! USA! USA!

(just trying to lighten the air a little. Im as frustrated as anyone but I'm also a little bored with the same pissed off rantings).
To be fair though, Bethesda could make a small announcement regarding these issues (no necessary deadlines for a fix) and just apologize for the problems and make a small PR move to ingratiate it's fanbase. Maybe just a little something. Everyone knows that we gamers are a bunch of lunatic shut ins that have the emotional balance of an autistic wolverine.

Now if everyone is done complaining (I think I'm finally relaxing after I personally made at least a dozen posts) let's hope for the best. If the game isn't fixed Bethesda will feel the repercussions through future sales and bad press. It takes so little to dissolve gaming companies and I can only assume this could be a house wrecker of a situation for all involved. Yes profits will be made, but I think we could all assume they are already anticipating a huge hit to sales and future development. I would love to try Brink, but many are already more hesitant about release day.
So, to wrap up...complaining feels good but gets a bit repetitive for those of us seeking actual information here opposed to listening in on the community therapy session.

I rented New Vegas, because I didn't trust it. I dealt with innumerable bugs in fallout 1. There came a point at which I took them in stride. I even downloaded all the hacks that let you tweak your character and mess with the enemy stats. When I got fallout 2, I played it until there were no unexplored quests and I similarly modded the experience to an almost unrecognizable state of buggy slop.

So how come Fallout: New Vegas feels, out of the box, the same way Fallout felt after being modified by an amateur hacker wannabe? If you play creatively, picking the locks you're not supposed to pick, surviving the fights you're not supposed to survive, New Vegas breaks to the point that it's not fun anymore. I've been stuck floating on cliff spaces. I've seen Mr. House magically resurrected from the dead (only to appear dead later on) and I've seen his bots magically revive themselves. Dialogue trees are completely f****d.

When I rented Fallout 3 on Gamefly, I bought it outright. I knew I was going to play through it again and again. But with New Vegas, I am already pretty sure I've broken my first playthrough to the point where I can't beat the game. And I'm honestly not interested in playing through again if it's going to be the same forgettable ride of near-awesomeness. New Vegas is the most dense, incredible RPG world ever programmed, and it's broke as hell.

You mean like what should've been done for the game before it got pressed?

When you take your game back can I has ur stuff?

Also, PSN and XBL are closed networks. Obsidian can give them a patch today and Sony/MS will upload it when they feel it's ready, not when Obsidian does.

pass the buck more please

It took MS and Sony a day to certify the first patch - which didn't fix any game breaking glitches but rather focused on exploits (should've been a secondary priority in a single player game like NV). Bethesda and Obsidian both knew just how broken NV was when they sent it for duplication - they just didn't care.

like i have noticed most people are complaining about the corrupt saves and crashing. I have encountered the same. I think its complete bs that a game can be released in this state as most of you would agree. And most great game makers would immediately address the games fans and buyers. Average per year i probably spend over 500 dollars on video games and xbox live. So if theres more people like me which im sure there is. Why the hell wouldnt game makers be more precise and consistent. After all if it were not for the consumer wtf would these people be? nothing. So bethesda, where is our confirmation for an update? an apology for doing a lousy job completing a great game. Get your [censored] together. Stop playin with eachother cocks n patch the game.

That patch actually did fix a game breaking glitch that didn't allow you to enter Lucky 38 if Victor died before you arrived at the strip.

I purchased the game on the 19th at Midnight. Since then I have had a lot of errors. Many of them errors that many others are posting such as...

- The game freezes during the loading (rotating roulette) screen. This results in me having to turn off the counsel and restart it.
- The game freezes during the loading screen mentioned above; except, the screen turns to black...
- I have had numerous [corrupt] game files.

I contacted GameStop to return the game since I was tired of having issues that resulted in me having to restart the game back at good ol' Doc Mitchell's in Good-springs. They told me I had to take it up with Bethesda and that they could only swap out the copy with the same game. They also said they have 40 or so calls a day with upset customers reporting similar issues.

I then called the help line for Bethesda. I had to use the Fallout 3 option since NEW VEGAS was not an option... ((ODD)))... I spoke with a person who told me to delete my game off the HDD, clear the cache, and download the new patch that was available. We went through a bunch of questions and he asked at what point in the game does this happen? I told him it was random; there was no specific spot were this was happening. he was also confused about the LOADING screen. I asked if he has ever played any of the Fallout games or have seen them played. He said NO. (At least he was honest)

Now that I have re-downloaded the game. cleared the cache, and did the update I am still having HUGE issues!

- Veronica; when she follows me around will approach me with the text box. This keeps happening and she just walks around doing this over and over. She will also NOT attack any hostile enemies. I sent her back to the LUCKy HQ I was so tired of it.
- I sent Boone back to HQ, he is nowhere to be found, waited a few days, still not there, went to Novac not there, guess he went after the Legion and failed to tell me huh...
- The game still freezes during the loading screen. (happened twice and is much less...)
- When I had Boone he was doing some weird thing with his legs that were moving in place the way that Nazis did back in WW II (thats how I describe it) and he would fail to follow me...
- Now for the BIG one. During the Hoover Dam side quest for YES MAN I entered the door to the Legion Fort towards the end of the game. FREEZE. Started up an older save, got to that part, FREEZE... Other save files [corrupt]

So in total since the 19th... I have had FIVE or SIX instances were I have had to restart my game.

Gamestop and Bethesda will not take it back or refund my money. If I were to walk into a shoe store and notice the stitching was bad on a pair of Nike shoes, would the store tell me I had to take it up with NIKE? No, they would send it back to Nike as a defect refund my money or give me a new pair. The important thing being the refund in money if all the shoe styles were bad. It seems like most of these games DO AND HAVE software issues. The reason I feel so bad is I was excited and pumped for this game with FO: 3 being one of my favorite games. Now after everything that has happened I feel as a consumer I am in a LOSE-LOSE situation.

I will try exchanging the game at GameStop and see how that goes. Or maybe I should stop pre-ordering games and say [explinct] the bonuses! Then wait and go on forums to see if there are any game-breaking bugs. This can not be good press. IGN, Kotaku, 7UP, and other gaming sites have reported this issue and to no avail...

So since I can not return it and wait until a GOTY edition or a newer version comes out my brand new 60 dollar game will sit there collecting dust and all I can do is hope that one day I beat it, one day I get the achievements that I have been OH SO CLOSE to getting...

I do play the game about 2-4 hours a day and can not waste any more time restarting the game from the beginning. I also manage a PetCo and we would never EVER tell a customer to contact a vendor for a faulty product. (Especially within 30 days)

Right now since no one has an answer saying, do not worry, you will be able to play this game 110 pecent w/out worry one day, I feel like if I took 3 20 dollar bills and whipped with them it would have been the same thing. Funny how when it is my 60 dollars no one has an answer...

Rather than reiterating, as I have in other threads, how broken this game really is, instead I will say if you can get over the slightly dated art style and over-simplified combat mechanics, Fable III is a great story with superb voice acting and only very minor bugs.

This issue really pisses me off. Not just with Fallout, but with software companies in general. In what other industry would they get away with releasing sub-standard, faulty on release, unfinished products, without any comeback to the customer.
For example, EA released World cup and the game allowed the 3rd placed team to progress from the groups instead of the 2nd placed team (for a simulation of the World Cup, thats pretty bad) and what did they do...nothing, refused to patch it, just walked away from it. Same as the huge game breaking manager mode bug in FIFA 10 which could give you a balance of -2 billion at any time after season 1.
But i digress, Anyone could see within the first hour that this Fallout had issues (i certainly could and i'm no expert). Characters falling through the scenery was one i found within 10 minutes of booting it up. I have since had to restart about a dozen times because my Autosave keeps getting corrupted.
Don't get me wrong, loved Oblivion and had no problems with it, same with Fallout 3...but this one is bugged fo fcuk.

Anyway my point was that there does'nt seem to be any way that these companies can be held accountable, what about the trading standards? How about selling something thats fit for purpose? Product recall?
They always trot out the same old mantra 'doing everything we can','a few customers have experienced minor glithes','here's a workaround','patch available soon' (usually 3 months time) etc
Until some governing body starts making them accountable, we'll keep getting lumbered with software thats broken on release.
Thats the sad fact.

Yeah I too feel this game is awesome but the fear that its going to crash every time I go through doors which take you to a laoding screen is annoying. Its happened to me almost everytime I play for 3-4 hours if not sooner. I'm fed up of having to switch my console off (the new 250 GB xbox so I know it can't be that) and switching it on again to only have the game crash on me after another few hours... Really REALLY frustrating. If these bugs weren't in the game I'd vote the game near amazing but the crash bugs make me give it a 3/10. So come on Obisidian or Bethesda FIX THE DAMN CRASH BUGS!!!!!!!

I'm so happy to see a thread like this. I was going to start one myself but this has saved me the trouble.

There's no excuses for releasing a broken game, let alone any excuses for releasing a broken game, which is barely even in Beta status, for FULL RETAIL PRICE. Sorry Bethesda/Obsidian, but I won't be buying your DLC. I can't bring myself to support such a shoddy business model and frankly, as a dedicated, paying customer since Oblivion came out, I deserve a little more respect.

If there's some kind of pseudo-official boycott against the DLC going on, I'm all over that.

yeah great thread. i hate how the excuse is that its a "big" game. what a crock of poopoo. more people should be enraged. the bugs in the game are unacceptable. I have about 10 quests open because I cant complete them. I have guns that i cant use because they freeze the xbox. companions that are missing etc. so frustrating and the response from bethesda has been pathetic. im a fan of them on facebook and they keep posting non relevant [censored]. who cares about an amsterdam trip or that its fallout 3's birthday. how bout you fix the damn game or give me my money back

Posted earlier today.

I was able to return my copy to GameStop today. They said they were going to make an exception because of all the issues people were having. I told the guy I would probably re-buy the game one a DLC package game comes out like they did with Fallout: 3. By then maybe the glitches and will be fixed...

I agree unfortunately.

If this game had no bugs in it then I would be able to say without a shadow of a doubt that it's one of the best games that I have ever played.

While it is still brilliant, the constant bugs, loading issues, frame-rate drops and crashes are making it increasingly frustrating. I also agree that it is risking setting a standard for developers where they realise that a big name is enough to rake in the money, regardless of the end quality of the product.

Please fix this soon Bethesda/Obsidian, it is an excellent game but these issues at best kill immersion and worst break the game.

My biggest issue right now is a missing companion who is still in my "party", as such I cannot complete a mission due to me needing to dismiss him for a new one.

Agree with everything said so far pretty much. I can live with all the minor quest bugs and things of that nature. That stuff happens with almost every game nowadays it seems, so I've grown to expect it and just deal with it. But all these game breaking bugs are completely unacceptable! These major bugs are so very common it's unbelievable. I know 5 people (me included) currently playing New Vegas and 3 of those 5 have encountered the game breakers.

I personally have the DLC loading error. Called Bethesda today and they told me they are aware of the problem and working to fix it. But they wouldn't tell me if the fix is for future save files or to fix the current broken ones. I'm hoping that it will fix my broken saves but I know deep down inside that the fix is just gonna be for future save. So my old saves I'm sure are just trash now. I have about 40+ hrs of game play in and just don't have it in me to start over if I'm screwed. Thought Bethesda was one of the few good guys out there in the gaming industry but have changed my mind completely after this. I'm about 90% sure I will never buy another one of their products and 100% sure I will never buy one with in 6 months of launch. Hope Bethesda fixes it soon. Guess I'll have to play a quality game like Red Dead Redemption - Undead Nightmare till it gets fixed.

It's sad because everything you said is the truth. It makes me wonder if they playtested this game before release, and also makes me cringe at what this game used to be before they so called *play tested it*

Here's 4 million lines of code. Find the bugs. You have 5 work days.

Yes, incredibly reasonable.

Yes, but people say what the glitches are, and they can pin point them that way,

I mean look at Treyarch and Bungie, they normally patch glitches in about 3-4 days considering the mass amount of code they should look through.

No, the sad thing is; they released a patch that fixed the infinite caps and xp glitch. Two harmless glitches. However, the most complained about glitches (Come Fly With Me, Strip Freezing, ect) are left intact.

So I guess they didn't want use to cheat, but not being able to complete the game is okay??

Well I bought this game for as a birthday gift for myself last Friday. I wanted to read the "expert" reviews (which didn't come out until after the game's release) and I also wanted to read the user reviews (I place more stock in these reviews because they don't have a hidden agenda). As of today my copy of the game is still sitting at home unopened because I read about numerous bugs and glitches. I will take this back to Gamestop and get a full refund. I only play games about 4-5 hours per week and there is no way in hell I am going to waste my time with a buggy game like this. I may or may not pick up the GOTY edition somewhere down the line. Bethesda and Obsidian should be embarrassed to release a game that is causing so many problems.

I just want to thank everyone on this site that has taken the time to post their complaints. You have saved me $60 and a lot of aggravation.
