Weights Weapons

Post » Sat Oct 16, 2010 2:30 pm

Maybe I'm blind, but none of the FAQs I looked at had it, the search feature didn't bring back any useful results, other than heavies with miniguns.

So what are the limitations on weapons for the lights and mediums (since I figure heavies get them all)? I'm sorry, I know it is a noob question, but I can't find results ANYWHERE.

Lights: SMG's short rifles, pistols
Meduims: light weapons with additions of assualt rifles, and grenade launcher
Heavies: Light and Meduim Combined with minigun, bigger grenade launchers

also some weopan types (Biological and malotovs for example) are class bases. Any one wanna add anything?

Mediums and Heavies also have access to shotguns.

This site has a pretty detailed summary: http://www.fragworld.org/frag/community-blogs/brink-info-pt-3-weapons-and-customization.html

I'm thinking of getting some screenshots of the weapons and going fishing for answers on the last 5. Go to some gun forums or something and post them.

Shotguns are considered assault rifles for some odd reason. Like they are in the same category.

Well, you could technically group a lot of weapons into the same category. The game basically only has 4 categories - sidearms, light weapons, medium weapons and heavy weapons.

Aha! Many thanks :) Now I can plan out what body type I want my different characters to be, depending on what class I want them to specialize their points into >:)

And Shadowcat, that it some piece of work you've got there. O_O

Actually, i have found the wiki to be surprisingly lacking in most areas

The http://www.fragworld.org/frag/community-blogs/brink-info-pt-1-story-gameplay-smart-classes-and-objectives.html (Blessed be his holy hooves) is a much better resource.

In past SD games, iron sights took a back seat, so many players were not looking forward to them. So, SD listened to their fans, and balanced hipfiring and iron sights, so that either is a viable strategy with its own drawbacks. Ideally, you would learn when to use one or the other.

I am still trying to wrap my head around that. Not sure which I prefer.

Its similar to the heavy vs light argument. Do you prefer mobility, or accuracy. Do you want to dodge or get more shots on target? Both are going to require skill, just different kinds. The best players will have to be able to do both as the situation demands. But it should be possible to play a whole game, never use iron sights, and do fine.

Its more about how they balanced it. I have played FPS on both PC and console so I understand both points of view.
