Weird Error Message when loading

Post » Thu Dec 03, 2015 6:41 am

Hello All!

I'm learning the CK and am pretty comfortable with it. But today I'm having an issue. I usually just open the Skyrim.esm master and the mod I'm working on. Today, I also tried to load along with these the .esm files for all three of the DLCs which I have. I get the following error message"

ASSERT

file: . .\TES Shared\misc\BGSLocalized String.cpp

Localization: Error opening or reading strings file

Then Window comes up with a message saying the program has stopped working and shuts it down.

Am I doing something wrong? Or what does this error indicate? I'd really appreciate some help with understanding what is happening. When I open just the Skyrim.esm file and my mod file, it works perfectly. This error only occurs when I try to open the DLC files.

Thanks in advance!!!

I wonder if this is related to the Multiple Masters issue

from the Wiki:

By default, you can only load either Dawnguard, Hearthfire, or Dragonborn data into the CK, but not all at the same time. To load multiple masters, in SkyrimEditor.ini, add bAllowMultipleMasterLoads=1 under the [General] heading.

Thanks so much for your quick reply. I don't think that is the issue because I tried loading them with the Skyrim.esm one at a time and got the exact same message on each. Also, I then tried loading them with the "unofficial patches" thinking they needed those. Not only did that not work, I got the error message that I couldn't load multiple masters. So I would think that if my original issue had to do with the multiple masters, I would have gotten the multiple master error instead of the weird one I'm getting.

Your SkyrimEditor.ini file needs to have the BSA files for the DLCs on second archive list entry or the editor won't find the language files and other DLC content.

SResourceArchiveList2=Skyrim - Shaders.bsa, Update.bsa, Dawnguard.bsa, HearthFires.bsa, Dragonborn.bsa

That solved the issue! Ever since seeing this answer, I've done more research on the net and found that this problem was going on all the way back to 2012. Again, thanks so much for this answer. So appreciated!
