That's not blood, it's oil. Try setting it on fire with magic, a torch or an overhanging lantern.

They aren't blood pools. It's some kind of lamp oil or something as it is quite flammable.

Ah! The light dawns! That's why I always find such spots around dead guys.... maybe I ought to invest in some fireball spells! Thanks for the info!

If you see an oil spill from far away, look for a lantern overhead. I usually shoot it with an arrow and it will ignite it, offing any enemies that happen to be there. Also fun to get an enemy's' attention so they run at you through the spill and then shoot the lantern. :D

Those are oil slicks. Use a fire spell on them to create a field of fire that will deal damage to everything in it.

Often, you will see these slicks with a clay lantern above it; you can shoot/melee attack the pot causing it to fall, explode, and ignite the slick.
