Weird issue with Darn UI

You know how they say a picture is worth a thousand words? Well, here's one...that will hopefully explain my problem. http://img34.imageshack.us/img34/9734/screenshot99w.png




I don't understand it. It's like the game will not run Darn UI for me to save my life.
I mean, the font size is way too big to be even readable. :(

Not to mention, the main menu has changed to not be on the bottom, but that's really minor. and it has the classic Morrowind style. I like it.


Anyone have an idea how to fix this freakyness?
Also, I seem to have an unrelated issue with deer being way too fast.

No, really, apparently, you can catch them with only 70 or so in Athletics and Speed. I can't catch them with over 100 in each. They just zoom away. And apparently, it's not MMM or the UOP.

I had a similar issue when I deleted my Oblivion.ini without disabling Darn UI first. Would that be your problem? If not, then I'm not really sure.

Sadly, no. Because I have never even edited my Oblivion.ini, let alone deleted it. :(

I don't know what the problem is here. It only affects Darn UI. :(

Did I break something, somewhere?
Because Darn is supposedly so awesome, but the font size is so big here that it doesn't even begin to make sense.
I hope someone can tell me what's wrong.

Hi, been away for awhile but dont you HAVE to edit the INI for Darn to work...might want to give the Read-me a good read...the fonts in the INI need to be changed to the new fonts your using...

Could be wrong but i know I had to edit MY ini..just sayin

I hat this problem with DarkUI Darn once and when i looked at the font section in the Oblivion.ini it looked kind of funny, something like this:

[Fonts]
sfontfile_1=Data\Fonts\_[DarN_Ringbearer[]_22.fnt
sfontfile_2=Data\Fonts\_[DarN_LG_Kingthings_Petrock[]_14.fnt
sfontfile_3=Data\Fonts\_[DarN_LG_Kingthings_Petrock[]_18.fnt

SFontFile_5=Data\Fonts\Handwritten.fnt

I discovered that copying and pasting the font settings with Abiword was not a good idea. So check your Oblivion.ini and make sure it looks like this:

sfontfile_1=Data\Fonts\DarN_Ringbearer_22.fnt
sfontfile_2=Data\Fonts\DarN_LG_Kingthings_Petrock_14.fnt
sfontfile_3=Data\Fonts\DarN_LG_Kingthings_Petrock_18.fnt
sfontfile_4=Data\Fonts\DarN_Oblivion_28.fnt
SFontFile_5=Data\Fonts\Handwritten.fnt

Or with what ever fonts you use. :)

Uh, okay. But I used the Omod version, so shouldn't it do it by itself automatically?
Dang it. If that's not the issue, what the crap is?

I mean, the Omod should have made it easier. Right?

How can this happen? :( It's not fair that I'm getting this problem.
Dang it! Nothing works! I've looked at the font menu, I've tried to select a different font entirely, and it didn't do anything!

Something is causing the font to be three times larger and in bold Why? What is the cause of this? It doesn't make any sense!

Where's the Handwritten.fnt anyway? It's not in the data/fonts folder.

Okay. big big problem. No matter what font I try, it does not change the system menu, or the loading menu at all!

I decided to use almost the craziest font there is. And it doesn't change anything!
What's going on here? The game wont' load any changes to the font? Help! I don't understand!

I don't know if it's relevant in this case, but what's your screen resolution? I once had an issue with DarkUI Darn because my resolution was not set high enough. Also, did you install any mods that edit the xml's after Darn UI? If I were you, I'd try deleting the Oblivion.ini and reinstalling Darn.

You may have to load the game once after deleting ini to create a new one, before reinstalling Darn.

Well, I changed from 800 x 600 to 1024 x 768, and still it won't work.

Deleted the Ini. Going to retry Darn UI in a bit.

A little nervous. Something tells me it's not going to work. :(
Also, why does Darn change the menu to look like Morrowind, yet have the custom font selection menu display it in Oblivion default?

That's a little confusing. Also, I hope it works now.

Also, Darn was the last mod I installed. Hey ,do I have to have Darnified books checked? Because my friend has Darn UI, and he doesn't even have Wrye Bash.

The OMOD should give you options for horizontal or vertical menus, for different fonts and ask you if you want to edit the INI file with the new font information.

If it doesn't, then you don't have OBMM set up right. Make sure you have the option for "allow additional script types" turned on.

Hmm, this topic was staying on top so I decided to look and see what the problem was.

Uninstall Darn with you ModManager.
Reinstall.
When the popup comes up to edit your ini (after you done all the choses and the omod starts installing) you have to press CTRL when pressing "yes" to edit the ini.

That's my take on the problem.

Okay. I have the most recent version of OBMM, and I checked to make sure Additional scripts is checked, and it is.
It first asks me my name, and when I do that, it gives me the Full install or the other option.
Never is there any option for changing the menu? :(
And inside those two options are the Custom fonts and what not. That's it. No vertical or horizontal thing.
I'm going to try again.

Sorry, nothing changed at all. Still all sorts of messed up with three times normal font size. :( and Bolded. And my Save/load screen is all sorts of squished.

Locksley, I have tried that a whole bunch of times. Nothing.

BUt I assure you all, I have Additional Scripts checked. Nothing like you asked shows up.

And yes, the system menus, and all the things the font is supposed to change? It doesn't change at all.

Sigh. It doesn't make sense!

Choosing "Full install" gives you a menu with five options on the left to choose from.
Next page gives you a choice between small or large font
Then it warns you about modifying the INI
Then it asks you about each INI choice

Choosing "Select Components" gives you about two dozen options in the left pane.


If this isn't happening for you, then somethings wrong. Either your OBMM is old (not 1.1.12), broken (or modified somehow) or the OMOD is broken.

Okay. Sorry, I forgot to say the right words. My bad. :)
I do have the full option and the five sub options, yes.
And the selected one has the large amount that you said.

But regardless of what I choose, I do not have a vertical or Horizontal changing thing, and regardless, this mod will not run for me.
:(

No matter what I do, the mod will not run at all.
It just gives me the glitches I posted above.
The save menu is all messed up, and regardless of the font I pick to change the main menu and the others, it refuses to change to anything but what you see in the main menu screenshot.

So, do you have any idea why this mod does not work for me at all? I really would like to try it. :(

Do you have Archive Invalidation set to BSA Redirection?

Are you using a Steam version of the game? If so, have you used the "Reset BSA Timestamps" in the Archive Invalidation section of OBMM?

Or have you altered your BSAs in any way?

Is Oblivion installed in the Program Files directory? Have you run OBMM as an administrator if on Vista or Win7?
