Weird mod graphics problem (purple glow effect)

So, I got a bunch of mods for Oblivion. Used BOSS. Started up, no bugs or anything and game runs fine. Well, every time I go into a new area, or move 5 to 10 feet my character and everything around me (all npcs, even dead corpses) gets an aura of purple around them, that then quickly dissipates...and it makes this weird "woosh" sound on my character I guess I could describe it has. And I looked through my active spells, and didn't have anything that would cause it.

Now, I had this problem before...and I posted about it. And it got fixed. It was really really easy and simple to fix. But sadly, I can't find the thread at all. I searched and searched, but no luck. I use Midas spells and Supreme Magicka and LAME for magic mods...I faintly remember it had to do with Mida or Magicka, but can't really remember now.

Oh, and if the OBSE plugins might have something to do with it

These are the plugins I have for OBSE

Fast Exit (so it doesn't crash all the time when I exit Oblivion)
Elys Silent Voices (that one plugin so non-voiced text stays longer)
Oblivion Stutter Remover
Oblivion Graphics Extender (could this be the problem?)

well, I removed Oblivion Graphics Extender. Still does it, and even tried a new save and it didn't change anything

You have some errors in your load order. For example:


Mart's Monster Mod - Spawn Rates - Increased.esp
Mart's Monster Mod - Spawn Rates - Moderate Increased.esp

Choose only one


Mart's Monster Mod - Gems & Gem Dust.esp
Mart's Monster Mod - Durability & Damage.esp

not compatible with MMMforOOO

Natural_Weather_HDR_by_Max_Tael.esp

Afaik it's buggy. Use All Natural instead



Maybe your problem are scripted spell effects. Use this plugin: http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=15677

and use a bashed patch

If none of what was recommended for you above works, just try unchecking these two:

bgMagicEVShader.esp
bgMagicShaderLifeDetect.esp

Do a clean save, and reload. See if that works. If it does, then it's a matter of fixing LAME's placement in your loading order.

So I got Script Effect Silencer and did the bash patch thing. The Script Effect Silencer should be loaded last, as its last on the order of mods on the bashed patch. And nothing comes after the bashed patch. Removed the moderate increased spawns (dunno how that snuck in there :P) and did the other changes recommended.

I also removed the BgMagicEVShader and LifeDetect into another folder and rebuilt the patch again (since the shaders got bashed)...and it didn't make any difference. Though, now its only my character that has the purple glow...and now it goes off every few steps. Its even more annoying :( But nothing else has the weird purple glow, just my character. The purple glow around only my character happened before I removed the shader.esps, so I don't think it was that.

Like I said, I had this problem before...wish I could find that thread again. But it doesn't appear that it got saved in the forums, probably too out of date

This isn't my screenshot, but I found it when I typed in google "Oblivion purple glow"...this is exactly what happens. But for some reason like I said, only my character is getting it now and nothing else. And its even more frequent and more annoying than before. It would be okay if I didn't hear a "wooooosh" every few seconds :(

Whoops, thought I did put the link to the thread. I did go into the compatibility in guard overhaul, and went into spell compatibility settings, and did each option...but no luck. But I'll try again since I made a bunch of changes.

That's a script effect, get Duke Patricks script effect silencer, linked above, and it will fix it for you.

I do have that. And its loaded last in the bashed patch. It still made that purple glow.

I figured out the mod causing it. Its Supreme Magicka. I deactivated it and its other related .esps in oblivion mod manager, removed them in bashed patch...and no more glowing effects.

Now I just need to figure out how to fix it, so I can use Magicka

So I put detectlife to 0 in the supreme magicka .ini file amd it still does it. Its definitely this mod doing it, if there is no fix for it...guess I just wont use it. I searched the comments on the mod skimmed through the readme, didn't see anything about continual purple glow on everything, every few steps I take. I thought I got it working before though, but forgot how.

Try setting the "nolevitationpoisoneffects" (or something like that... levitation's the key part there) to whatever it isn't set to already in the SM .ini. And triple posting's not cool.

And, as for triple posting. Who actually visits any threads (besides ones made for certain mods) past page 6? I never see members or guests or anonymous users visiting those threads when I got to them (well very occasionally I do), and they get lost among the many threads/pages. Guess I could always just make a new thread about it instead of triple posting. Otherwise my thread will never get visited again. In any case, thanks again :) No more annoying purple glow effect :D

I'm gonna make a backup document so in the future if I ever get the problem again if I reinstall my PC or whatever...I'll have it ready so I know what the problem is. Otherwise I'll forget again.

Now I can fully enjoy Oblivion :)
