weird problem with mge

Post » Sun Aug 14, 2011 10:10 pm

MGE has started crashing whenever I get into a fight in-game - after it does this, all other saves then crash on load-up.
When I uninstall MGE and then load a save, instead of it crashing straight away, I get this script error -

'Script YAC_FTD_Global
Trying to RunFunction index greater than function count
The script will not run anymore.'

Yet if I just click past this screen, morrowind works fine without crashing at any time, which leads me to believe it is MGE.
I've tried installing several of the different versions of MGE, and always get the same problem - also my graphics drivers are all up to date - I'm using an Nvidea geforce 240

Any help? I'm rather confused right now, and have resorted to playing without distant land, which is a jip

There's a very current thread for MGE questions. Posting there would be good for everybody.

sorry for starting my own thread then, but I have asked in there before and never got an answer. Seeing as how this thread is now open, I might as well carry on posting here...

anyways, I have deduced that the problem is Pursuit Enhanced - when I deactivate it, morrowind runs with MGE without crashing. ANy thoughts why this might be? Also, am I ok to deactivate Pursuit enhanced and carry on playing without it messing up my save?? Any help would be much appreciated.

Pursuit Enhanced is a MWSE mod and requires that to be running, otherwise you will get the script error you mentioned. MGE has an integrated version of MWSE so that is why the script error occurs when disabling MGE. The problem isn't directly with MGE, but rather a symptom of the needed MWSE.

That said, make sure that you are using the latest release of Pursuit Enhanced (currently v1.2.4) and follow the readme and suggestions there in regarding installation.

MWSE mods are best kept in the same load order slot once you start a game - have them load first before any other plugins so that changes to the load order later will avoid removing / adding plugins before them. Wrye Mash is a great tool for maintaining plugin load order and synchronizing your saves properly. Morrowind Code Patch v2.0 is also highly recommended to help with load order issues present in the stock Morrowind engine (also recommended in the Pursuit Enhanced readme).

It would also help if you posted your load order.

[edit] missed your question about just disabling Pursuit Enhanced and continuing on with your current save game. That should be fine but the error message with likely continue to show each time the save is loaded going forward.
