Weird save issue

Post » Tue Dec 09, 2014 9:17 am

So I've been playing Morrowind for a while now, and when I logged back on earlier today my savegame had suddenly changed to a previous save. I can't find anyone else having the same problem.

I use the Steam version of Morrowind. Before I launched the game, I had to choose between syncing the game in the Steam cloud or on my harddisk (or something similar:p) and I choose my harddisk. I can't find my savefiles anywhere on my computer.

I have tried:

- verify integrity of game cache

- re-installing the game (my earlier save-file is still on there!)

Also, I'm not using any mods.

plz halp! Haven't found anything on this issue on the interwebz!

OK, turn off the Steam Cloud synch. It does not work well with this game (save files are huge and are not updated/synced like you think they should be). Then your save files will be kept on your machine locally where they belong. The only reason to use something like this is to play the game on two different machines in different locations. I will tell you that unless your mod mix is exactly the same this will give you all kinds of problems you don't want to have.

Although you may want to leave it on for a while until you log off on to Steam a couple of times to get the files back. However I have seen threads like this where the OP comes back in a couple of hours and states their saves are back again. Once you get them back, then turn off the Cloud Sync for this game and any other TES game. Or Fallout Game for that matter.
