When they had first arrived at the bunker, Kathy had spent a great deal of time considering why she, of all people, had managed to survive until now. She had also spent as much time considering whether or not she would be able to survive for much longer, because the way she saw it, it would be a while before things started to improve.
Or so she had thought. As the days had gone by, she had found herself spending more and more time with Jason, and if she was honest, this suited her just fine. She was surprised at how quickly she had actually managed to understand the things that he had taught her ... and subsequently held herself back from advancing too quickly because in spite of the fact that the world above had gone to hell, she enjoyed his company.
Now, however, the rains had passed, and it was all Kathy could do to follow both Jason and Luke outside, unsure of what was waiting for them. She caught sight of the cars just like they did, her mind immediately whipping itself into a frenzy, even though she knew that she needed to stay calm.
"What are we going to do?" She muttered, barely audible. She hugged her arms around herself and turned to Jason. "Jason ... we're going to be okay, right?"
