[WIP] Welcome to Rapture!

Post » Mon Jun 21, 2010 9:29 am

So recently I've become somewhat obsessive over Rapture, the magical underwater city from the famous Bioshock games. I know, I'm about three years too late, but I had to channel my love for Rapture into something so I combined my minimal knowledge in the GECK to create a fairly large underwater Rapture-style apartment.

http://s1232.photobucket.com/albums/ff366/LadyLollerskates/Fallout%20Rapture/?albumview=slideshow, YAY! :celebration: Please ignore the orange lines outside the windows, they simply tell the fish where to swim and don't appear in-game.

It's not completely done yet, I've got a few problems to iron out. The interior is pretty much done though, unless people really want a kitchen...

Yes, I intend to make the rest of the city. I've already started on the Medical Pavilion and Pauper's Drop. :)

Gasp.

Yeah, I'll definitely download it when it's done. If it's ever done.

Glad you all like it :D Just a question: Is a kitchen really necessary? Because I can fit one in but I quite like the overall layout of the apartment as it is.

Looks very nice.
Will get this when its done.

I would recommend to not make it rapture, just rapture inspired. If you can come up with a lore friendly story behind it it would be a much better mod.

Doesn't give me that Bioshock feeling. But it still looks pretty great. From first impressions, I give it a 3/5.

That's pretty good, I love BioShock too; you should do Fontaine's Apartment! Oh, just a personal thing, sure the Sierra Madre stuff looks quite deco but if you use almost only that then it just looks like the Sierra Madre under the sea, mix it up a bit.

As for the Kitchen, yeah of course.

I expect some pictures of all of the underwater skyscraqers too :D.

Yeah no worries, I'll be trying to make every location unique. The player apartment needs to be especially unique, so it'll likely be the only Sierra Madre-type building.

Hmmm, I'd never thought of making up my own Rapture-inspired city. I suppose then I could expand out of my comfort zone a bit... I'll consider it. :)

Looks awesome. Obviously not as awesome as my rapture map in Source, but what could be?

Just kidding, keep up the good work.

I have to say, this is very beautiful, and I wish I could play on PC. This is a high compliment from me, since to my knowledge, I've only seen two or three mods for F3 AND F:NV I have ever liked. The way you organized the Sierra Madre assets to such a beautiful way, it strongly resembles a dream idea I had/ve for a mod. Do you think if I did a rough map up, you'd be willing to try and work on it? (Just for the sake of seeing my dream idea come to life)

Added some new photos to the album of the Adonis Luxury Resort Spa:

http://s1232.photobucket.com/albums/ff366/LadyLollerskates/Fallout%20Rapture/?albumview=slideshow

By the way, huge thanks to Speedy and http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=39551 for the Neon Signs and various other helpful items. ^_^

-------------

I'd have liked to get some in-game screenshots but my game keeps crashing as soon as I enter the spa. I think it might have something to do with some posters I retextures, but I deleted them I still crashed. On top of that, my GECK has decided to crash every time I save so I had to quickly snap some pictures of the half-finished spa before the whole mod became corrupt... I really have no idea what's going on. Fortunately I have a backup but I'm afraid to test it out in case the GECK breaks that too...

I just don't understand. The GECK worked fine before I tried to test the spa in-game... :(

Damn good recreations, I am excited to see what it looks like out of the windows; have you recreated Rapture out of the windows too? Sorry about your GECK not working.

Err, not really. Right now it's just some tiny sea scenes surrounded by black panes, I plan on making a Rapture skybox soon, when my GECK is fixed. :)

(The photo "Under The Sea" in the album is pretty much what each window exterior looks like right now.)

Well I can't wait to see them, the city itself was always my favourite part about BioShock, I remember looking out of every window; the best place was in Neptune's Bounty near the Fighting McDonugh and Jet Postal... you going to do anywhere from BioShock?

Of course! I've already started the Medical Pavilion, although it'll be a while before it's presentable I'm afraid. Arcadia and the Farmer's Market are next on the list. ^_^
